JSRC Volunteer Extraordinaire
Al McKean
|
|
The Jersey Shore Running Club mourns the passing of Al McKean, husband to Mary Ann McKean and father of Peggy & Terry McKean.
Allen was a fixture at JSRC events and was always the first to sign up to volunteer. His loss leaves a hole we can never replace.
Our thoughts & prayers are with Mary Ann, Peggy, Terry, and the entire McKean family.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School | 1212 1st Avenue | Asbury Park, NJ
Holiday Greetings to JSRC members! It's that time of year - the annual Adopt-a-Family event! As you know, each year, selected families in need are assisted by the generosity of our JSRC organization.
Click here for the lists of the families, wishes and sizes. Also check the Facebook event page updates. If you'd like to sign up, please contact coordinators: Manolo Teijelo , Jaime Chaifetz or Karen Kelly with the family or gift(s) you will contribute so we can avoid duplicates. You can select any family member / any item! You don't need to adopt an entire family.
Gift cards or cash donations are also welcome. The JSRC will match all contributions up to a total of $800. Mail to: JSRC Adopt-A-Family, P.O. Box 7492, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702. Online donation option is also available, however this option does reduce the donation by a processing fee.
The Fun Part!
The gift wrapping will be Monday, December 14 in the cafeteria at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Asbury Park. Sign up here if you would like to be a good little elf volunteer gift wrapper. If you'd like to contribute, but can't make the event contact one of the coordinators and we will arrange a pick up in advance.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support of this event!

March 12-13, 2016
JSRC has partnered with RRCA to offer a Coaching Certification Class in 2016. If you've ever wanted to learn more about coaching, wanted to become a coach, or just become a more knowledgeable runner, this course is for you! It is a two day course in March.
Day One includes principles of coaching, principles of building a periodized program, understanding exercise physiology for coaching, running form, basic sports nutrition, and how to build training programs.
Day Two includes the business of coaching, sports psychology, recognizing injuries and prevention, environmental factors that effect running performance, and building training programs as a group activity. You must attend the entire course to become certified.
Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle for refilling throughout the day as needed. If you have special dietary needs or food allergies, please bring your own food to meet your needs as we are not in a position to accommodate all dietary restrictions.
Participants should also bring a pen or pencil for note taking during the course. No running is involved in the course. No guests or unregistered attendees allowed during the course.
