This Sunday October 23rd, is JSRC's Deal Trick or Trot 5k - the 2nd year incarnation combination of the longstanding popular Deal & Trick or Trot races. The first year in 2015 was a great success & this year is shaping up to be even better !

JSRC Adopt-A-Family 2016 - by Karen Kelly
JSRC Adopt-A-Family Gift Drive 2016 will begin soon.

While it's only mid October, Karen and Manolo are already looking ahead to this year's JSRC Adopt a Family.
Both Karen and Manolo are on board to coordinate it again, and may be adding some team members.

As you all know, the outpouring of generosity from our club members is tremendous. From first-hand experience in 2015 and participating in prior years, JSRC  spreads holiday cheer to deserving families.

Please remember our Adopt a Family program in your holiday shopping.

Member News

Congratulations and Best Wishes
To Jaime Gallagher and Jeff Hrzic on their upcoming nuptials this weekend! we wish you both well and enjoy your australian honeymoon!

Meet Our New Member: Peter Robinson
I am originally from Birmingham England but have spent the last 16 years in Chicago.

I recently moved to Brielle, NJ with my family to follow my wife's (Abigail Manger, also a new member) job.

I have run 9 marathons, Chicago four times - the latest was about two weeks ago. PB 3:41 a few years back. My favorite distance is the half marathon: PB 1:33:33.

My original aim was to complete 10 marathons, so the NJ marathon in April will be my tenth, then go from there.

I enjoy running, soccer, going the movies, reading, and spending time with my wife and eleven month-old son, George.

I worked as an Analyst paying property taxes for a firm in Chicago for the past three years- i've been here in New Jersey less than a week, so I'm searching for a new job.

My wife and I will be running the Trick or Trot 5k in Deal on Sunday, We hope to see some of you guys there.

I have already run the Felix Trail in Manasquan a couple times so far, but if anyone has any suggestions for good runs . . . or companies to apply for jobs. . . . please let me know.

Looking forward to meeting more fellow runners soon.

If you would like to volunteer for a race or event, you can contact the race director, sign up at one of our Club meetings, or contact our volunteer coordinator, Charlotte Griggs.

Club Runs
Bodman Park in Middletown
Meet at Bodman Park just off Navesink River Road at 8:00 a.m. Meet at the Clubhouse (Market Street, Middletown). Groups run from 6 to 22 miles mostly on trails through Hartshorne Woods Park & Huber Woods & the surrounding areas with scenic views. There are plenty of hills and it's a perfect run for marathon training. There are water stops & refreshments at the end. There is also the opportunity to walk on Sunday mornings. The distance is six miles & start time is variable.
We need someone to be the point of contact for this long-standing group run and assist with placing & cleaning up refreshments stops. If interested, please contact the club  President.

Jim Buckman  of Urban Missions-LCMS tells us that on Saturday, October 29th; he will be hosting a 5K/1M charity event at Branch Brook Park (Lake St. and Elwood Ave.) to raise funds and awareness for at risk youth and their families in Newark.
The name of our effort is "Calming the Storm"- because it is our hope to help calm the storms in the lives of those who are at risk and possibly, by extension to help calm the storms in the city of Newark.

Runners and walkers can register at their website: www.calmingthestorm.net
