Dear ones,

As a Board and staff we had looked forward to holding worship in person this Sunday. Sadly, we are not going forward with that. Rather, with the increased rates of COVID infection, transmissibility of the Delta Variant, and waning immunity of the vaccinated, we are pausing to explore the best and safest ways to be together.

This decision was made after extensive reflection by the JUC Safety Team. The staff and Board were consulted throughout the process and all are aligned with the decision to forgo in-person congregational worship in light of the current conditions of the pandemic. Our next update will be on or before Friday, October 1.

We are devastated. This is so hard. We want to be together. We need to be together. And none of these decisions are made lightly. Nothing feels right or easy.
We have not forgotten about our families with children at home. We will be creating opportunities for children and families to be together and will be in touch this week with some specifics. Please note: we are pausing all RE (K-5th Faith Exploration, Coming Of Age, Neighboring Faiths, OWL, and High School Youth Group) for this Sunday. No classes will be held, online or in person.

Rev. Wendy and Jules Jaramillo will hold a special online listening session for families this Sunday, September 12 at 12:30 p.m. Meeting Link This will be a time to share and care for one another while building connection for the future.

An additional online listening session for the entire congregation will be held on Sunday, September 19 at 12:30 p.m. Meeting Link
Let us be clear we are not closing the church. We are simply and painfully pausing in-person worship. There are some smaller scheduled in-person activities that will still happen.

Please pay attention to the Weekly Connection for updates and also opportunities for smaller ways to gather. This week, for example, if you are grieving about the realities and challenges of COVID or anything else, join Rev. Eric for a Grief Support Group Wednesday at 12 p.m. on the patio (limit of 15) or online at 6:30 p.m. for a chance to express your grief and have it held in community. Patio Registration Link. Another opportunity for small group interaction is with our Circles of Connection. We still have spots open. If you are interested, please contact Katie Edwards.

The choir is still gathering. If you would like to join and you are vaccinated please contact Keith Arnold.
We want you to know how difficult this decision has been. We yearn for the time we can be together. Until then, join us for online worship at 9 and 11 a.m. every Sunday.

We love you and we miss you,
Rev. Wendy and Case Collard, Board President
