We encourage all of our members to be involved in committees. It is a great way to learn some of the tasks our Board Members undertake. Even if you haven't been on a Committee, you are still welcome to let us know if you are interested in becoming a Board Member. We strive to include a variety of skills from around the State so please submit a nomination form for consideration by July 10.

Legislative Update from IRA
The Spring legislative season ended and the primary was held a few weeks ago so officials are concentrating on the November election. Now is great time to talk with them over the phone or in-person at their home office. If you wish to share a concern or compliment, be sure to be concise and have examples of how your concern may impact the environment, jobs, or industry.

Nature Hike & Natural Areas Tour!
|
|
|
For those arriving to the IRF Annual Conference early on August 30 there is an excellent opportunity to tour some of the natural features of JJC with a professor of Biology as the guide!
Andrew J. Neill, Biology professor closing out his 30 years of teaching, will lead attendees on a tour of JJC's Natural Areas, a valuable natural resource for teaching lessons in biodiversity, land stewardship and conservation.

The Prairie & Forest Trails include exposed bedrock formation, erratics, deciduous forest, vernal pond, Rock Run Creek, an oak savannah, and more. This walking tour along mowed and rocky foot paths, will traverse oak-hickory woodlands and dolomite limestone prairie with an intimate experience of a rare calcareous fen. For some, this can be a life-changing experience.
Meet at the registration desk, students will walk attendees to the Cafeteria Patio at 8:30 am. Dress appropriately for the weather and terrain. Bring your reusable water bottle and a hat.

YOUR PHOTOS REVEAL OUR ECONOMIC IMPACT
In an effort to do more on social media and make our website more reflective of our members, we are asking IRF Members to send photos of their recycling and collection operations. Pictures can be of office collection, residential drop-off, MRF sorting lines, curbside service, someone placing items in recycle bins, reuse events, compost operations, etc. Please send jpeg/jpg pictures to info@illinoisrecycles.org.
