Alameda County Honors HDFCCC Office of Community Engagement

Last month Kim Rhoads, MD, MPH, director of the HDFCCC Office of Community Engagement, as well as Kimi Watkins-Tartt, director of the Alameda County Public Health Department, were recognized for cancer initiative work in Alameda County.

The Board of Supervisors issued a county proclamation in support of eliminating prostate cancer disparities. The Black Men's Health Committee (BMHC), along with Supervisor Keith Carson and Board President Nate Miley, were present to commemorate the occasion.

Raising Cancer Awareness Through Community Events

At the recent Dr. Frank Staggers Sr. Prostate Cancer Walk, the BMHC honored the legacies of Dr. Frank Staggers Sr., a pioneering Black urologist, and Baba Gerald Green, a prostate cancer advocate and community leader. At this and other events, BMHC is building community to address the disproportional impact of prostate cancer on Black Men.
