JULY 2025 | Education eNewsletter, Idaho Public Television

Students and Media Literacy

IdahoPTV hosted more than 75 students from Peace Camp in Boise in late June to support their learning about media literacy. Production and engineering staff gave students a guided tour, demonstrated what they do in their jobs, and discussed the importance of distinguishing fact from fiction when consuming media. Older students learned block-coding using PBS KIDS ScratchJr while younger kids built bridges, applying skills from PBS KIDS' Cat in the Hat.

Summer Learning: From Kamiah to Kimberly

IdahoPTV Education Specialist Lenea Pierzchanowski brought Molly of Denali activities to the Kamiah School District Culture Fair and Pow-wow.

"I was very honored in being invited! The pow-wow celebrated the graduating seniors, and the dancers were all kids from both the Kamiah and the Lapwai schools. As a thank you for my participation in the events I was quietly presented with one of the drumsticks by 'Pistol Pete' Wilson of the Nimiipuu."

IdahoPTV Education Specialist Brady Kissel hosted a lively storytime and family learning session at the library in Kimberly, ID.

We kicked off summer at the library in Grace, Idaho, by planting sunflowers and starting plant journals, led by IdahoPTV Education Specialist Cheryl Kimber.

We designed racecars at HP Bring Your Inventor to Work Day in Boise, in a STEM family learning activity led by IdahoPTV Education Specialist Ashley Gazley.
