CONNECTIONS: Russia is more accessible than ever before thanks to Yakutia Airlines' Alaska-Russian Far East service. Connect the same day to Khabarovsk, Yakutsk, Magadan, or via other airlines to Vladivostok and Moscow. Yakutia Airlines also offers flights 6 days a week between Khabarovsk and northern Sakhalin (Nogliki and Okha); weekly between Petropavlovsk and Irktusk, and twice weekly between Petropavlovsk and Tokyo (Wednesdays and Sundays until August 14).

ADMISSION INTO RUSSIA:
FILLING OUT FORMS ON BOARD YOUR FLIGHT    

  

Migration Cards MIGRATION CARD: All foreigners entering Russia must fill out a two-part migration card upon arrival. Migration cards are available at all ports of entry from Russian immigration officials, but generally flight attendants distribute this form prior to landing.

The travelers deposit one part of the card with immigration authorities at the port of entry (Entry Card "A"), and keep the other part for the duration of their stay.  Upon departure, the travelers must submit their card (Exit Card "B") to immigration authorities. CUSTOMS DECLARATION FORM: Travelers are only obliged to complete a Customs Declaration Form if they are bringing goods or possessions that are subject to declaration. The regulations covering what items you are obliged to declare are listed HERE. If you fill out a customs declaration, then make sure it is stamped by a customs official, and keep it safe until your departure. Customs Declaration Forms are available on board of the aircraft, but can be download in advance  HERE

MIGRATION CARD AND VISA REGISTRATION
: Travelers who spend more than seven days in Russia must register their visa and migration card through their sponsor.  Travelers staying in a hotel must register their visa and migration card with their hotel within one day
.  

US CITIZENS
: U.S. citizens should be aware that Russian police officers have the authority to stop people and request their identity and travel documents at any time, and without cause.  Due to the possibility of random document checks by police, travelers should carry their original passports, migration cards, and visas with them at all times
.

Billions of dollars in oil and gas investments have brought development and tourism to Sakhalin, an island that once just a penal colony during tsarist times. Major oil companies such as ExxonMobil and Shell maintain a presence there. Good food and hotels catering to foreigners are available. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk has only about 200,000 residents, but boasts 52 hotels, countless banks and shopping malls, as well as local and foreign businesses.

CALENDAR OF RUSSIAN FAR EAST EVENTS

Yakutia Diamond Week - Yakutia Diamond Week, Mirny-Yakutsk, September 2-6, 2013: Tourists will learn how diamonds are extracted, sorted, processed and how they become works of the art of jewelry. The tourist route will start in the diamond capital of Yakutia - the city of Mirny. The route will begin with a tour of the 525-meter deep kimberlite diamond quarry, the diamond sorting center and the museum of kimberlites. Afterwards, the tourists will move to Yakutsk to visit eco-ethnographic complex "The Kingdom of Permafrost," ethno-museum "Ytyk Haya" and eco-ethnographic complex "Chochur Muran." Expanded Air Service to Russia Opens New Frontiers of Adventure By Rene E. Limeres

Yakutia Airlines renews their direct flights from Anchorage to Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula this summer, with expanded service to the mainland that opens up even more opportunities for Alaskans to explore the many wonders of Russia's Far East. Beginning in late June and continuing to the end of September, their smart new Boeing 737-700 fleet will now connect Alaska to Kamchatka, the Khabarovsk region and the province of Yakutia in north eastern Siberia. The unique attractions of this last unspoiled area of the world, which once took days of travel to reach from Alaska, are now mere hours away.
