JUMP traveled to Hawaii for an event at the Official Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Honolulu on October 15, 2018. The  Japan-America Society of Hawaii, in partnership with the  National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS) and  Sasakawa USA , hosted a gathering for Japanese military service members from the visiting JS Kashima and locally based service and civilian members of the U.S. military who have served in Japan.

On October 6, JUMP and the Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida co-hosted the 4th Annual Japan-U.S. Military Program event at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. The event included reunions by base for U.S. service members who have served in Japan, as well as presentations, bamboo flute and Taiko drum performances, and Japanese food. RSVP for Japanese Whisky Tasting in DC on November 8
JUMP is pleased to announce that we will host a tasting with whisky expert Hajime Kunai, Certified Whisky Expert (Japan Whisky Research Centre) and former General Manager of the Mars Shinshu Distillery, on November 8, 2018. The tasting for JUMP members will be held at Sasakawa USA's offices in Washington D.C. The event is offered in partnership with the Embassy of Japan.

YCAPS seminar featured on AFN Tokyo
AFN Tokyo featured a Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies (YCAPS) -JUMP seminar in a short video piece  which began airing on Oct. 17, 2018. The video highlighted an October 10 YCAPS-JUMP seminar held in Fussa City, the second event YCAPS has held near Yokota Air Base. The event was standing-room only to hear a panel of six distinguished experts lead a discussion on the topic of  NATO States’ & Asian Security: From Interests to Action.
JUMP Spotlight Series: Exploring Japan with Liz Sonnek
As part of JUMP’s ongoing initiative to reach out to those who have served in Japan, JUMP intern Nina Udagawa interviewed Liz Sonnek, who was in Japan between 2014 to 2016 as her husband served at Yokota Air Base. In Japan, Liz took initiative in helping others on the base explore various areas in Japan. Her advice? G et out and see the country and meet the people.
