Meet the Locals

From now through July 14, our all-member show will introduce you to the world around us, through the creative eyes and skilled hands of our member artists.  What do you see when you think "local"?  Waves?  Boats?  Lobstermen?  Birds?  Islands?  People about town?  We have all of these, and more, so don't miss the show!  (And don't let your summer visitors miss it, either!)

Our Spotlight Wall for this show will feature the work of our member Peter Moak.  Peter is an art historian who honors the influences of C├ęzanne and Picasso in his pictures.

Coming up next:
Up, Up and Away

Our next all-member show will take off around the theme "Up, Up and Away."  Let your spirits soar as you contemplate what you might see, and what you might create!  Artist drop-off is Monday, July 15, 4-6pm. Mark your calendars for the Opening Reception on Sunday, July 21, from 4-6pm. We're thinking that perhaps the weather will finally permit us to step out onto our lovely deck....

The Spotlight wall for this show will feature the work of member artist Marlane Bottino.

Thank you to Hall Bros. for their excellent work on our beautiful new roof and sponsorship of the KAA!

Plein Air 2017
It's time to paint
en plein air!

Thanks to a lot of hard work by Lisa Alyson, the 2019 en plein air schedule is packed to the brim with great outdoor art opportunities, including demos, workshops, and locations beloved and new!

First up is Thursday, June 6, at M. Mariner's, 8 Barrell Lane, York, from 4-7pm.  This date features an oil demo by David Lussier.  Demos are $15 for members, $20 for non-members, and members are always welcome to come and make art without taking advantage of the demo.

After that:
  • June 13 at A.M. McCurdy's 96 Goodwith Road, Gerrish Island.
  • June 20, at Hosmer's, Raynes Neck, York - demo with            Mary Byrom
  • June 27, 18 Crockett Neck Road, Kittery Point
  • July 4, Fort McClary - bring your picnic supper and paint!
WE NEED YOU to make our events successful!

Happenings at the gallery are so vital to our vibrant presence in the area.  Think of the times you've enjoyed the energy, art, connection and general good time at a KAA opening reception or concert.  Well, we need some volunteers to help with this events - especially staying to do some clean-up afterward.

If you can help, even one time this year, please call the gallery or contact our volunteer coordinator extraordinaire, board member Beth Newkirk.

Thank you!!
Beyond Our Walls

The Kittery Art Association's mission is to "promote knowledge of the arts, stimulate interest in the work of local artists and express appreciation for the abundant creativity in the seacoast area."

We're not limiting that to the walls of our beloved gallery.  In 2019, we are nourishing current and new partnerships with local businesses and institutions to give our member artists more ways to live out our mission in and around our community.

If you are interested in exhibiting at these venues:
