Dear ones!
I write this newsletter article in the wake of yet another mass shooting. My heart breaks because our nation has done nothing to stop the consistent gun violence we witness in America. Despite protests, marches, and more, nothing is done by those controlled by gun lobbyists and others. I think the only way out of this horrific situation is through voting – and it will take more than one election to make a difference. But we must start with this election in November. And yes, I’m getting political here – but that’s the way our system works. We have to vote and work to get others who really value lives to vote. Our association has one of the vehicles for organizing call “UU the Vote.” Visit this link to find out seven ways you can help.
Greg and I have a busy month ahead. In addition to spending more time with our families, Greg is accompanying me to Portland where I will be attending ministerial days (June 20 – 22) and both of us will attend General Assembly (June 22 - 26, 2022).

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process. See https://www.uua.org/ga for more information and the schedule of events.
- If you would like information to register to attend online, go to this link.
- If you would like to serve as one of our delegates, let me know. Delegates register and agree to attend business meetings and represent the congregation by voting.
- You can also take a peek at what’s going on – even without registering.
Available for Public Viewing: General Sessions, Service of the Living Tradition, Synergy Bridging Worship and Sunday Morning Worship will be streamed live on UUA.org and YouTube. I would especially encourage you to tune in for some or all of the Sunday morning worship service. These events will also be recorded for later viewing. The Sunday Morning Worship is the largest annual gathering of UUs joining in worship. This powerful, communal worship experience will stream on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 12:30 Eastern. This means you can attend the service in your own congregation at 10:30 and also attend the UUA service at 12:30 online!
Please check out the remainder of this newsletter for other important events planned for you this summer.

As we approach the month of June, I hope you are all able to slow down a bit, take a breath and breathe in the warm summer air. For me, June is a month filled with travel. I learn more about my self when I go to new places, see new things, and meet new people. It is that reflection of something new that helps me to see the common place in a new way: new flowers, new birds, new views. Also, traveling allows me not just to see some of the people I love most, but hug them too. The pandemic took some of that away and I hope to catch up on hugging some of my loved ones that live far away. Let’s celebrate June by making connections: new and old, face to face and virtual.
I hope more of you will join us for this month’s HUUtananny on June 4th at 4. No musical talent required. I will bring kazoos, drums, and other instruments. If you can’t play an instrument, sing. If you can’t sing, dance. Let’s celebrate with music. Adults and children are all welcome.
For the month of June, half of our offering that is not designated as a pledge will be shared with Ferst Foundation of Bulloch County. They provide books for the local community to help prepare all preschool children for reading and learning success. Ferst Readers' mission is "strengthening communities by providing quality books and literacy resources for children and their families to use at home during the earliest stages of development." Their vision is "to create better learners, brighter futures, and stronger communities by giving every child under five access to quality books in their homes." Visit their website at https://ferstreaders.org/ to find out more.

Hi Everyone,
We are looking for someone to help out with Zoom over the summer. The person would need to come to church, open the zoom room, move the camera so folks watching over zoom can see the service and lastly they would need to record the service over zoom. I have been doing this and will continue but I am going to be away for several Sundays over the summer and I don't want folks who attend over zoom to miss out. This is much simpler than in the past since you basically open the zoom room and record the service. No screen sharing or other tech required. I am happy to train you. Also, this would not be every Sunday in the summer, especially if we can get more than one person to volunteer.
Please let me know if you are willing to give it a try and we can talk about details. I will train you. You can email me with any questions or if you are willing at thegerontologist@gmail.com
Thanks,
Adrienne
