E-News - JUNE 2019
June provides outreach opportunities at National Heights. Our annual mission Vacation Bible School at Villa Marie is scheduled for June 24-27. We take the gospel to the neighborhood by partnering with Lifebuilders Ministries at the Villa Marie Apartments. For information on how you can help, contact Michelle. We will take our Wednesday ministries to Incredible Pizza on Wednesday, June 19. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to join us for worship and a great evening. For more information, contact Michelle. It’s going to be a great month of reaching out to our community with the message of Christ. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through you!

FRANKLIN LUNCHEON AND FUND-RAISER - SUNDAY, JUNE 9TH!
The church family is invited to a luncheon honoring the Franklins as they begin their new ministry in Washington. Those attending early service and Bible Study can stop by beginning at 10:45 a.m. and get your food to-go if you prefer. Otherwise, lunch begins at noon. Donations are greatly appreciated and will all go toward filling the Franklin’s new home. A list of their specific needs will be posted for anyone who wishes to donate for specific furniture and household necessities. The Franklins will move to Pullman, Washington in July to begin their mission work with Resonate Church which ministers to college students in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Please join us in supporting their new mission by making this transition as easy as possible for them!
SMACK IS CANCELED! Thank you for your interest in our music camp. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough interest this year in order to commit to doing it. With so few kids signed up, we must cancel and regroup for next year. I apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this creates. But, please be on the look out for our future plans.

Stepping Out Testimonies
Many of our membership are “stepping out” into the community. This focus each month will allow you to hear from them, know how you can pray for that outreach and perhaps be inspired to join in as well.

I am privileged to be a small part of National Heights Baptist Church’s “Stepping Out Ministries”. I Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” This scripture has inspired me to use my card-making skills to encourage recipients of local Meals On Wheels lunch and dinner deliveries.

Four times a year I craft 100 cards for NHBC’s College and Career Life Group to sign and send. College and Career’s class ministry project has for several years sent encouraging cards to NHBC’s homebound, ill and grieving, and we have seen the positive impact that these cards have made on our church members. As a result, we recognized that Stepping Out Ministries offered a great opportunity for our class to send encouraging messages to members of our community as well.

My 10-year-old granddaughter has chosen to be a part of this ministry, too! She and I craft these cards together, and her enthusiasm for this project has led her to plan “Card-Making Days”, when several of her friends will join us in making cards this summer. Their goal is to make enough cards to send to Meals On Wheels recipients on a monthly basis! It’s wonderful to see young girls embrace the concept of volunteering, and even more so to see them give of themselves in the name of Christ Jesus!

Blessings,
Marti Blattert
The Care and Share Ministry to widows of the church community will gather on Thursday, June 27, at Golden Corral North at 11:15 for their monthly informal luncheon. This is an informal time of sharing and praying together. If you have questions, please contact Mildred Burns or Phyllis Sanford. New members and visitors are always welcome.
WOMEN ON MISSION SCHEDULE WORK DAY
On Tuesday, June 25, Women on Mission will meet at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. This will be a work day given over to the making of salvation bracelets for the Greene County Baptist Mission Teams that will be going to Guadalajara, Mexico in July and August. This year our church has made and sent nearly 5,000 salvation bracelets! Doris Whitcher is in charge of the salvation bracelet process.
Also the same day some of the women will be tacking quilts of all sizes for Grand Oak Mission. Grand Oak Mission Center is an outreach of our Greene County Baptist Association of which National Heights is a proud member. Our women make 10 to 12 full and twin size quilts each year for the Center. The quilt work is under the direction of Darlene Gideon. We also make 40 to 50 children’s quilts each year, under the direction of Mary McLemore. Busy hands are happy ones.
We welcome women of the church to come and participate. We will be glad to teach you how to both make bracelets and/or tack quilts. It is a fun time of working and sharing together.
A coffee/snack/share time is held about 10:15 with hostesses for this meeting being Marti Blattert and Becky Mabus.

Pastor Weatherford and National Heights Baptist Church,
Thank you so very much for all the kindness shown to us year after year. You are a special group of people!
~~The Staff of The Nurturing Place

Your donation of assorted magazines is absolutely perfect! Our families run back and forth to the hospital throughout the day and frequently take the time to sit down for a few minutes. So, we love having magazines in our living areas to help them enjoy a moment of relaxation. We are especially thankful for each and every person who lends a hand to make our families feel special.
With warm appreciation,
~~Ronald McDonald Houses of the Ozarks
