A Letter from the Director...
Being an avid reader, I always carry material with me for "free" moments. My handbag usually contains a variety of reading materials in various formats. I love summer because it provides more opportunities for "free" reading moments. Summer weather allows for backyard, beach, and poolside reading. Reading with my children in the summer is also fun. Reading new books under a tree or in the evening on the porch brings some of my favorite summer memories.
I encourage you to set aside time this summer to read and to share your passion for reading with others. Encourage the children in your life to choose reading as a free-time activity. Reading proficiently by the end of third grade matters. The KIDS COUNT Program at datacenter.kidscount.org/ states that children must be ready to succeed when they get to school (cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically) before they can learn. Children need quality learning opportunities, beginning at birth and continuing in school and during out-of-school time, including summers, to sustain learning gains.
The Nazareth Library, along with local community partnerships work to help combat summer learning loss by offering free summer reading programs for all ages. The Nazareth Library's 2018 Summer Reading Program, "Libraries Rock" provides children, teens, and adults with unique programming, encouragement to read and ways to participate in community centric activities. Registration is easy, just stop by the library. Readers can enjoy programs, crafts, and reading prizes while tracking their daily/weekly reading. Sign-ups begin on Monday, June 18.
See you at the library!

They have taken advantage of the opportunity to reduce the cost of gifts through tax savings, while at the same time maintaining or increasing their value to the library. Memorial and other special gifts are a meaningful way of paying tribute or recognizing a special achievement. Contributions to the Library are tax deductible.
