NH CHRONICLE - TO FEATURE THE STUDENT BUILT SMALL HOME!
HUOT TECH CENTER - Laconia - It's been two years in the making but the Huot Tech's Building and Plumbing students are putting the finishing touches on the small 384SF modular home! Due to the pandemic and remote learning in 2020, the project was delayed by a year. WMUR's news correspondent, Sean McDonald and crew stopped by to watch the students in action and talk with them about what they have learned and how their new skills will shape their future plans.
This is the fourth small home built by the students under the direction of LRBRA. This is the first build of its kind - not a tiny house on wheels but an actual home that will be set onto a foundation. The new home has been sold and should be delivered in July.
Building Instructor, Ben Schneeweiss talks with Sean McDonald about the skills that the students have learned over the past two years. They are certified in OSHA 10, and other skills needed to set them up for success when going directly into the workforce!
Five students from the Huot Tech Center were awarded $500 each to purchase quality tools and start their careers off in the trades!
