“The 300SL begins piling on rationales for its shocking sticker. The apparent stiff­ness of its body structure is remarkable, with only a rare hint of shudder in the cowl. The chassis is far and away the most advanced and best settled in this group, giving the SL a secure, confidence-inspir­ing chuckability over fast, undulating roads of any surface, as well as a fine free­way ride. Its comfortable seats—more like occupant-support systems, really—incorporate the whole safety-belt mechanism plus the usual power adjustments. Then there's the pop-up roll­over bar, the clean body lines, the high quality of the finish—on and on.”

Offered here is a very nice example of the R129 convertible with soft and hard tops. Finished in red with a Palomino warm tan interior, this Mercedes-Benz is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 8.8 sec, from 0 to100 mph in 25.4 sec, with a top speed of124 mph.

Purchased by the current owner in April, 2017, this 300SL now has a new one touch power convertible top. It has had extensive service during its ownership, with a brand new (April, 2025) battery. It is rust free, and is in excellent overall condition. Included are a Carfax report (available on request), a full car cover and service records during current ownership.

Disclosures: The SRS (airbag light is on), the driver seat is powered, but not moving. The HVAC system works, but A/C is not blowing cold/needs recharging.

All things considered, it's a nice cruiser, at a nice price.
