JVS Staff Speak Nationwide
This fall, JVS staff have presented at more than a dozen national conferences on topics such as Pay for Success, job quality, federal jobs policy and employer engagement.

JVS staff are participating in forums convened by organizations such as the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, the Federal Reserve Bank, and the National Skills Coalition. “In my role as CEO of JVS, I’ve found it gratifying to have a chance to spread the word about JVS’s innovations in the field of workforce development,” says President and CEO Jerry Rubin, “and the fact that our VPs and other leaders are being tapped for their expertise says a lot about the depth of talent at our agency.”

Learning More About the Refugee Experience
“I thought I was well informed about the refugee situation,
but going through
the simulation was a moving and profound experience that deepened my understanding significantly.
--JVS staff member
Last December, over 100 JVS staffers participated in a unique exercise to help them empathize with our refugee clients. On December 2, JVS’s Jewish Services Committee is recreating this powerful and enlightening activity. Hosted by Temple Isaiah in Lexington from 3-5pm, this unique opportunity will give people a deeper understanding of the experience, the choices and struggles involved in moving from a refugee camp to into the U.S. immigration system. Advance registration is required.

Immediately afterwards, employers FASTCORP, Starbucks and Partners shared their advice as part of an HR panel for veterans.

Faces of JVS: Christopher Feugill
Christopher Feugill
As Veterans Day was earlier this week, we are featuring Christopher Feugill, our Veteran Employment Counselor at MassHire Downtown Boston. Chris served in the US Navy from 1991-2009, and started at JVS in 2015. He focuses on intensive services for veterans with barriers to employment, such as homelessness, disability due to military service, and receiving public assistance. While Chris sees veterans here at 75 Federal, he is often offsite as part of his outreach efforts.
