Chapel Communion Every Sunday at 9:00am

Every Sunday morning at 9:00am, anyone is welcome to come to the chapel for Holy Communion, accompanied by a time of self-reflection and prayer.

Men’s Breakfast this Saturday, Jan. 21^st at 8:45 am in the Fellowship Hall!

Men’s Breakfast has been moved to Saturday morning at 8:45. Please plan to join us in the Fellowship Hall for an hour of discussion, learning and fellowship with your brothers at JW. If you have questions or would like to help with the breakfast, please contact Matt O’Connor at oconnorscapecod@gmail.com.

Worship service every Sunday at 9:30am

Every Sunday morning at 9:30am, we have our traditional worship service in the sanctuary. This lasts about one hour. As part of our worship, we have special music by one of the choirs, a time of prayer, a couple of congregational hymns, and a message by our pastor. Following the service, everyone is welcome to join us for a time of food and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall.

The Rev. Charles Bark passed into God’s Glory on Sunday January 15th. Rev. Bark was Pastor at JWUMC from 1995 to 2007. He is still remembered by many people in our congregation as a man of deep faith, encouraging spirit and a great sense of humor. We thank God for this faithful servant, and share our deepest condolences with family and friends.

Falmouth Service Center

We are collecting selected items for the Falmouth Service Center - each month the items in most demand will be posted, and the collection box is in the narthex. Items requested for the month of January - APPLE JUICE (64 OZ.) -CANNED CHICKEN - PANCAKE MIX - JUICE BOXES-KETCHUP - BABY WIPES - DIAPERS (SIZE 6&1).

Changing the world for January will restore the funds used to purchase items for what we call comfort bags. These bags are available to be given to people in need and contain basic hygiene products, a snack, hat, sox and other items.

Prayer Group Wednesday January 25th meets in the Chapel at 11am.One of the ways we draw closer to God and one another is through prayer. I invite you to our prayer time on Wednesdays at 11:00. It is ½ hour of short devotion and prayer. No one is asked to pray aloud, but as we share prayers and time together, it becomes easy to talk to God in presence of our Christian brothers and sisters. Those of us who attend find this to be a powerful time of setting ourselves apart during the middle of the week to bring our joys and concerns about our family, friends and church to our Lord.

Bishop’s Installation Service, February 2

The New England Conference Committee on Episcopacy invites everyone to the Service of Installation for Bishop Peggy A. Johnson. The online service will be from 7-8 pm on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023. All New England United Methodists are encouraged to join our new bishop for this time of worship and celebration. Register here and you will be sent the webinar link.

Get the word out! The Plant Sale is coming up in May

Every year, on the Friday and Saturday before Memorial Day since 1988, our church holds a fundraising and outreaching event to beautify our community with beautiful plants and flowers. This year will be no different and it will be as exciting as prior years! If you are looking to serve, please contact Tom Hoke.

Concepts of Gender and Sexuality Presentation

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Falmouth is inviting neighboring congregations to their event “LGBTQAI + Allyship, Identity Consciousness, and the Welcoming Congregation" on Sunday, February 5, 12-1pm. All are invited to attend.

Sunday School

Sunday School for Kindergarten - 4th Graders is during the 9:30 service, after the children's moment. This week, the children will be learning about the promises God made to King Solomon! Each week, there are crafts and activities to accompany the Bible Lesson. Nursery Care for the youngest members of John Wesley is also available.

Youth Group

The Middle School Youth Group is on Sunday evenings from 4:00-6:00. The middle school group will be learning about the fruits of the spirit this next month. High School Youth Group is on Sunday evenings from 5:00-7:00. The high school group will be learning about what Jesus says about a variety of topics (scripture references in the Sermon on the Mount). There is an hour overlap for both groups to enjoy dinner and games together. If you are interested in making dinner for the youth group, please click here or see Hannah!

John Wesley Youth Recreation Center

The JWYRC will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-5:00 pm and is for 5th-8th graders. This is a safe space for the middle schoolers of our community to hang out in after school. Youth are welcome to walk over from Morse Pond and Lawrence schools or they may be dropped off.

Youth Winter Retreat - March 3-5

Our annual Youth Winter Retreat is just over two months away and sign ups are live! All youth 5th-12th grade and their friends are encouraged to attend. This year, we are headed back to Camp Berea in New Hampshire March 3-5. Throughout the weekend, we will grow closer to each other and to God though worship, small group discussions, meals, and plenty of fun activities and games!
