This week in the JYM...

6/16/22 - 6/23/22

This Past week it was so fun to get together and watch a classic film, The Karate Kid! Sitting outdoors, laughing and cheering together, it felt like summer was here! One of my favorite moments was when the students kept asking "Where is his mom? Doesn't she worry about him being gone all day?" To which I said... it's the '80s baby!

Tuesday we had our first Walk-In-N-Out of the summer. It was a beautiful day at the lake and we had a good time just chatting and hearing about summer plans.

This Tuesday we could really use some help at Casitas, especially with food donations. Read more about that below.

As we near our mission trip departure, we would love if you could bless our students by writing notes to them to encourage them throughout the week. This is a tradition our student's have cherished for years. Also with gas prices higher than any previous summers we've traveled with students - please consider purchasing gift cards for gas stations. If you go to a church or are part of an organization that uses SCRIP, this can be a good way to get in a double donation! You can also donate to us online and just add a note it's for the mission trip.

Other ways you can help our students is by donating baked goods or helping us return vans after our trip. You can sign up here

Lastly, we have a full summer schedule planned (as seen below) We know this summer is busy for many, especially with many families finally taking trips they have put off for the last two years, but we hope when you are in town you can join us for some events!

We hope to see you soon!

In Christ,

JYM Summer Schedule!

This Week in the JYM...

No Youth Group on Sunday. Happy Father's Day to any and all who celebrate

Tuesday June 21st, 4:00 - 5:45pm Casitas De Esperanza

801 N First Street

Help Needed!

As we continue to serve at Casitas through the summer, we hope that some families who have not been able to join us during the school year will have a chance to stop by.

This week in particular, Lisa is out of town as is Karyn Cline and Bruce & Karen Eshleman, our usual adult food team.

We would love adults & students to help play water games with the kids at Casitas, and to help by donating food.

  1. Watermelon or another fruit cut & prepared for 60 people
  2. Dessert for 60 people (Doesn't have to be home made but if it is, please label it with any allergens)
  3. Drinks in your own cooler for 60 people. (Please include at least some water bottles)

If you can help with any of these three things, please e-mail me to let me know! - Kat

Friday June 24th

5:30 - 5:50pm - students loading luggage and packing vans

5:50 - 6:15pm - Commissioning Service

Friday before we leave we will be packing up our vans with student's luggage. When we are done, around 5:50pm we estimate, we will do a short commissioning service for trip participants.

This is for any family, church members, or youth group members who want to pray for our group before we leave and hear about our trip. This is also a good time to bring in any hand written notes or gift card donations.

Current 6th - 10th grade students - after two years we are planning to go to camp together again! Join us for five days at Sugar Pine Christan camp in Oakhurst, CA. We will stay in cabins together along with a young adult JYM alum cabin leader. The camp has a plethora of activities, along with engaging worship and a week-long speaker to help us grow in our faith.

Cost is $500, but we have scholarships available, so if you are hesitating due to price please sign up and let us know what you are able to pay.

Currently camp is open to 6th - 10th grade students. We know our 9th & 10th graders didn't have the opportunity to attend the past two summers, so we are happy to extend the invite this summer to join us!

From the camp website: "Come to the WILD side this summer at Camp Sugar Pine! Learn to live life on the edge with extreme faith.

It’s a jungle up here with awesome activities like the high ropes course, paintball, archery, exciting tournaments, crazy games and so much more!

This year get ready for our wild our MUD PIT recreation day! Volleyball, Tug-of-war and other muddy games are always a blast. This will be an unforgettably fun day! Get your friends on board - this is going to be an adventure!"

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
