This week in the JYM...

8/4/22 - 8/11/22

A huge thank you to all the students, parents, and alumni who showed up on Tuesday night to help us at National Night Out. Almaden Hills was one of 142 NNO events in San Jose, and one of many thousands in our country. We got to serve food to our church's neighbors, provide entertaining games, and enjoy the fun ourselves!

This Sunday we have decided to take off from JYM activities. Lisa is on vacation visiting family, and we have a lot of wonderful meetings coming up that include a lot of prep & planning, like Casitas on Tues August 9th, and a beach day on Sunday August 14th!

Be sure to scroll down and read about the underwear & sock drive we are doing for Casitas de Esperanza. And soon we will be welcoming in our new 6th graders to the Joint Youth Ministry. If you know of someone starting 6th grade this fall please send us their info!

Lastly, if you are interested in being a consistent JYM volunteer - which could be volunteering for Jr. High or Sr. High small group Sundays, being a food coordinator for Casitas where you help with the planning/shopping/prepping of the meals we serve, being a Tuesday night program leader, or serving our ministry in a different way - please reach out and let us know! Lisa & Kat love our students, but we know the value in having many adults be present in their lives.

In Christ,

More Ways to plug in...

Sock & Underwear Drive for Casitas!

Building Hope, a service organization with members in the 3 churches, is supporting Casitas de Esperanza by hosting a sock and underwear drive. From today through 8/7/22, we will collect girls and boys socks and underwear in all children sizes.

Donations can be dropped off at youth group or left in the "Building Hope Sock and Underwear Drive" box in the Wesley Room at WGUMC. Contact Michelle Unger at 408-802-9556 if you are unable to drop the donations off at the church.

If you would like to make a cash donation for the purchase of items, please write a check to WGUMC and write "Building Hope" in the memo, or make a donation on the church website https://wgumc.org/  with "Building Hope" on the comments line.

Support the families at Casitas by purchasing new socks and underwear!

Welcoming new 6th graders!

Do you know someone about to start 6th grade? A sibling, friend or anyone else you think may be interested in checking out the JYM? Send us their info to [email protected] and we will message them about upcoming activities this fall!

We will be having a 6th grade pizza & ice cream social on Tuesday August 23rd, we would love any incoming 6th graders to join!
