This week in the JYM...

3/9/23 - 3/16/23

It was a great week of ministry in the Joint Youth Ministry!

Sunday we had a really fun youth group where middle school and high school competed in ridiculous games and got to work together to accomplish their goals. Afterward we had a chance to chat with some parents about the challenges and joys of parenting teenagers. We hope to continue these conversations with more specific topics in the future.

An additional resource many parents may enjoy is this episode of Kelly Corrigan Wonders. Entitled "Feelings, Friction and Family with Dr. Lisa Damour" it is a conversation that focuses on teenagers and communication, filled with good advice and hope. You can find the episode here (Or wherever you listen to podcasts). https://www.kellycorrigan.com/kelly-corrigan-wonders/drlisadamour

Tuesday we had a small but mighty crew of volunteers at Casitas. We loved sitting and talking with families alongside crafts and games. We were able to enjoy a rain-free evening, but please keep their community in your prayers as we prepare for another week of rains.

This Sunday we have youth group with games and discussions at our normal 4:30 - 6:00pm time at Willow Glen UMC. Tuesday we are at Almaden Hills UMC at 1200 Blossom Hill Rd. for Student Choice Night with dinner, 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

Building Hope Mission Trip to Mexico

July 22-29, 2023

Join our team as we build houses for working families in Mexico this summer. No matter your age, physical capability or skill, you can make a difference in the lives of a family in need.

This is an intergenerational mission project and we invite anyone ages 5-85 to consider joining the team. Working with Amor Ministries, we will build two-room houses for impoverished, working families. For most of this week-long trip, we will sleep in tents pitched in a basic campground, work full days in the Mexican sun, rain or wind and shower with a bucket of water warmed only by the sun. This trip will change your life as you get to know and fall in love with the people of Mexico who live in these conditions every day. Amor Ministries has been building in Mexico for almost 40 years. Find out more about their work at www.amor.org

We hope you will join us this summer to build hope in Mexico.
