Guitar Workshop Back on June 27th...Virtually!
The Toronto Blues Society’s popular Guitar Workshop is back...virtually! The workshop will be hosted by guitarist Jack de Keyzer . This year's guitar masters are: Suzie Vinnick , Madagascar Slim, and Fraser Melvin .

Workshop will be live streamed on The Toronto Blues Society Facebook page and will be followed by a 30min live Q&A.

Maple Blues Awards Is Going Online in 2021

Toronto Blues Society's annual national awards show Maple Blues Awards is going virtual on its next edition which will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021 . The Board of TBS has been faced with the difficult decision considering the ongoing pandemic. The public voting will still take place during the month of November 2020 and the winners will be announced during the online awards show on February 1, 2021.
Musicians! Promote Your New Albums!
Please make sure to mail and promote your new albums to the MBA Nominating Panel until the end of September. While our Panel is consisted of 62 members who are required to be familiar with Canadian blues artist activity and CD releases, artists are encouraged to service new releases to increase their national profile. The list of the Panel members can be found on our website with a link to their organizations. Please note, albums should be released during the eligibility period:  September 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020 .

Be A "Backer"
for New JW-Jones Album

JW-Jones will be releasing his "self-isolation" album "Sonic Departures" in August 14th and you can be one of the "backers" on his Kickstarter  by pre-ordering the album. The campaign will end in 2 days and he has 23% remaining to hit the goal. JW-Jones is fresh off the heels of winning "Best Guitarist" at the 2020 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Arts & Culture
in Public Space

Toronto Arts Foundation / Arts in the Parks ' " Arts & Culture in Public Space " survey is aiming to collect Torontonians' current opinions regarding participating in arts & cultural activities taking place in outdoor public spaces in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your input will help Toronto Arts Foundation, the City of Toronto and various community groups plan for arts activities and events happening in 2020 and 2021. The survey takes approx. 5min to complete and the deadline is July 6 by the end of day.
Recovery & Rebuilding Toronto

The City's Office of Recovery and Rebuild wants to hear from you as they are working to prepare for Toronto’s recovery in the weeks and months to come due to COVID-19. They want to know how you and your community have been affected to be able to work together to recover, rebuild and support the long term success of the city. The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete and the deadline is next Tuesday, June 30th . Click here for more info.

  • Jay Moonah is launching his new album "Why Should I Be Blue?" on Facebook with an online listening party today on Wednesday, June 24th at 7pm. The album contains eight new songs with contributions from Sandra Bouza, Mike McKenna and many others.


  • Kellylee Evans will be doing a live performance with Seamus Blake as part of Ottawa Jazz Festival this Friday, June 26th at 7pm.

  • Aaron Kazmer's next guest on his BLUES Let's Talk on Zoom this Friday, June 26th is a very special one - Joe Filisko. Filisko is an American blues harmonica player and maker of customized harmonicas based in Chicago, Illinois.

  • Montreal Jazz Festival will feature a series of online events on Facebook in lieu of their actual festival between June 27-June 30.

  • Rev. Robert Jones is now doing The Blues Chronicles for Truefire's Youtube channel, featuring a different historical blues artist each day for the month of June.
