FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Budget Workshop

FY 2021-2022

City Council met alongside City staff for the annual Budget Workshop. Departmental budgets, tax rates, capital projects and more were on the agenda. There is a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, August 10, 2021 on the proposed 2022 fiscal year budget. The public hearing will be held at City Hall council chambers, 315 S. Ragsdale at 6:00pm on August 10, 2021.

JACKSONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

FREE MOVIE MATINEES

The Jacksonville Public Library is hosting Monday Movie Matinees each Monday afternoon before school is back in session! This is a free event and open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Library card is not required.

Moana - August 2nd at 2pm

Abominable - August 9th at 2pm

Inside Out - August 16th at 2pm

SCAVENGER HUNT WINNER

Congratulations to our Tomato Fest Scavenger Hunt winner, Jessica Sistrunk! She completed the photo scavenger hunt and even visited our Vanishing Texana Museum to get the winning shot by the historical tomato labels to seal the win!

Jessica won a DIY Family Movie Night package which included a movie, s'mores kit and popcorn.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

Splash Day 2021

The Jacksonville Fire Department hosted a Splash Day event at the Nichols Green Splash Pad on Saturday, July 24. Free hot dogs, snow cones and snacks were provided to all who attended. It was a perfect way for families to beat the heat and play in the refreshing splash pad alongside Jacksonville Firemen!

POLICE DEPARTMENT

K9 Rambo Receives Body Armor Donation

K9 Rambo received a donation of body armor in July. This bullet and stab protective vest was donated by non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Rambo's vest was sponsored by Barbara Consolmagno of Springfield, MA and embroidered with the sentiment, "In Memory of Charlie & Smokey".

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) charity whose mission is to provide body armor and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
