Financial Reporting Award
|
The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded Jacksonville the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended September 30th, 2020. The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstration of a constructive "spirit of full disclosure."

Bealls Distribution Center Jacksonville TX was named the August Employer of the Month for the City of Jacksonville by JEDCO. Bealls Inc., based in Bradenton, Florida, is the parent company of Bealls Stores, Bealls Outlet, Burkes Outlet and Home Centric. JEDCO recognized Bealls for its significant contribution to our local economy through capital investment and jobs. Receiving the award for Bealls are Everett Graham II and Melanie Stern.

Rhonda Ray was recognized for 30 years of service to the Jacksonville PD as she retires. Rhonda served from 1991 to 2021. She served as a dispatcher for two years, then transitioned to the Criminal Investigations Division as an administrative assistant processing thousands of criminal cases. During her 30 years, Rhonda served under 5 police chiefs and more than 400 police employees have passed through the doors of JPD.

Mayor Gorham presented Roxanna Briley, Director of Finance, with the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)'s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the City's FY 2021 budget beginning October 2020. The award represents a significant achievement by the City. It reflects the commitment of the City Council and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

Open Forum for Mayor/City Council
|
|
Mayor Randy Gorham:
- Recognition of those who came to the community organized cleanup on November 6th.
- Encouraging people to attend the Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, November 13th.
|

- On the 25th of October, a 22-inch water line was hit by a private company. It resulted in a system-wide loss in pressure and a boil water notice. Thank you to the crews who worked through the night to repair the major water line in a safe and swift manner. Thanks to the community for the grace with which they responded to the boil water notice and ensured the continuation of major services.
- Public hours at the Jacksonville Animal Shelter will be changed starting Monday, November 13th to improve customer service. Those hours will now be Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm and Saturday, 8am to 12pm.
- Completion of the Jacksonville Public Safety Complex is nearing. Fire bay doors will be installed soon and fiber internet was recently installed.
- Friday, November 12th, the city will be closed in recognition of Veterans Day. I would like to recognize the veterans who work for the city.
