National Night Out

On October 4, the Jacksonville Police Department held its second unified National Night Out downtown. This year surpassed all expectations and previous events! We counted over 5,000 people at the event which saw over $30,000 in support from the community to host the free event. Thank you Jacksonville!

Lake Lot Auction

One more lake lot sold in the auction ending on October 28. The other five will be listed again starting November 11. The bid deposit is $5,000 and the starting bid is $200,000.

The burn ban for Cherokee County has been lifted. Outdoor burning is now allowed in Cherokee County. It is still prohibited in City Limits without a permit. Please contact our Fire Marshall at 903.339.3362 to apply for a permit.

The Sesquicentennial Street Festival was a huge success. It was an amazing time meeting up with old friends, family, classmates, reminisce about the good 'ole days, and fun for the whole family! Thank you to our Sesquicentennial Celebration Subcommittee Chairs Kathleen Stanfill and Cassie Devillier for your unwavering dedication to planning and executing such an ambitious event. Thank you to the individuals and businesses who gave so much in support of the event!

New Trash Carts

Republic Services will be rolling out (pun intended) new trash carts soon. These carts will be provided to every residential and some commercial customers. These new carts will be required for all customers and will replace existing carts used by some customers. They are much larger than existing City carts and multiple carts may be requested for an additional fee. More information will be available soon via our website and Facebook Page.

Election Information

Early Voting continues at the Jacksonville Public Library through November 4.

November 8th is election day! The ballot includes 22 amendments to the City Charter and an additional 2% Venue Tax to the Hotel Occupancy Tax paid by travelers to Jacksonville Hotels. This venue tax would go towards renovations and operations of a new Civic Center at the Cherokee Ranch Golf Course. This facility would be open to the public to rent for events large and small!
