Save the Date for a conversation around The Anxious Generation: Thursday, January 23

Salisbury Academy will offer a school-wide book read for the 2024-25 year featuring the New York Times best-seller, The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness. A panel presentation and discussion will be provided on Thursday, January 23. Join us for this important conversation!

In his latest book The Anxious Generation (Penguin Press, 2024), Haidt examines how this “great rewiring” has interfered with children’s social and neurological development, covering everything from sleep deprivation to attention fragmentation, addiction, loneliness, social contagion, social comparison, and perfectionism. He explains why social media damages girls more than boys and why boys have been withdrawing from the real world into the virtual world with disastrous consequences for themselves, their families, and their societies.

Annual Christmas Fundraiser for Rowan Vocational Opportunities

Please join us in providing a little Christmas happiness for some very special people! We are coming together again this year to collect donations for Rowan Vocational Opportunities. RVO provides employment, education, therapy, friendship, and many other services for adults with mental disabilities.

We will also accept monetary donations (to the attention of Heather Coulter/checks made out to Salisbury Academy) which will be used to purchase priority and bulk items.

A highlight of this partnership is sharing a Christmas party together. It is quite exciting for us to be able to spend this quality time with some dear individuals. Mrs. Coulter’s exploratory is currently planning for this event, and will take the party and donations to RVO on Wednesday, December 11. There is a particular need for personal items.

PSA Holiday Gift Fund

PSA will be collecting voluntary donations toward the Holiday Gift Fund for the teachers and staff members of Salisbury Academy. We all know how difficult it can be to find just the right gift for each teacher. So, to make your life a bit easier, you can show your appreciation to the entire staff in one step!

PSA will pool all of the contributions received and present each teacher and staff member with a monetary gift before winter break. Contributions will be accepted now until Friday, December 13 at the end of the school day.

This tradition was started by PSA many years ago and has been greatly appreciated by the hardworking folks who are so dedicated to our children. The teachers and staff have been SO VERY thankful for the generous donations in the past.

A note with all of the contributing families will accompany each staff gift.
