NCAIS's third parent webinar of the year is coming up on January 15!

How to Raise Socially Skilled Tweens & Teens Who Can Navigate Friendship Challenges

led by Phyllis L. Fagel

Wednesday, January 15

7:30-8:30 p.m.

Register here for the webinar (advanced registration is required)

Tweens and teens need to feel a sense of belonging in order to take social and academic risks, manage social setbacks, cope with intense emotions, and make smart choices online and offline. In her session, author and licensed clinical counselor Phyllis L. Fagell will share practical ways to boost your child's social skills, scaffold risk-taking at an age when they fear embarrassment, and help them find their place in the pack. While the strategies apply to all kids, she will concentrate most on kids in grades 3-10.

Anxious Generation Panel: Thursday, Jan. 23 at SA

Join us for an important conversation:

Thursday, January 23

6:30 - 8 p.m.

SA's main campus

The larger community is invited to join us for a conversation about the New York Times bestselling book The Anxious Generation. Our discussion will be led by panel members Jonathan Hetterly, Josh Musser Gritter, and Trevor Eppihimer. Panelists will address the challenges that children face with mental health, anxiety, and the influence of technology. As part of the conversation, panelists will empower the community to take positive action in helping children develop a healthy relationship with their surroundings, while also encouraging reflection on our roles as adults.

Students in middle school and older are encouraged to attend with their families. For more information on the event, please contact Allison Doby.

Meet Kia Creamer, SA School Counselor

Salisbury Academy is pleased to welcome Mrs. Kia Creamer, MA, PSC, LCMHCA, as school counselor!

Mrs. Creamer began her career as a first grade teacher after graduating from Appalachian State University. In 2015 she completed her graduate program and served as a school counselor before transitioning to clinical mental health in 2022.

In her private practice, Kia focuses on treating adults through significant life transitions, trauma, grief, depression/anxiety, family conflict, and other struggles.

Outside of work, Mrs. Creamer is an active member in her church and enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and reading (a lot). She has always felt a passion for educational settings and community spaces, and she is thrilled to join the Jaguar family.
