SA Annual Fund

Ever wonder why everyone is expected to give to the Annual Fund? Each year, every enrolled family is expected to participate in giving to the Annual Fund. Your participation sends a strong message of support and confidence in our school, an important message when the school seeks large funding from foundations and corporations. Our goal is to reach 100% participation among staff, board, and parents.

Thank you to this week's Annual Fund donors

Entries will be judged using the following criteria:

  • Creativity: Is the story original and does it capture the reader’s interest?
  • Writing mechanics: Did the student use correct punctuation, capitalization, and grammar?
  • Plot and structure: Does the story contain a clear beginning, middle, and end? Do the characters in the story encounter problems which they ultimately resolve?
  • Characters: Are the characters clearly described? Can the reader picture the characters in their mind as they read the story?
  • Spooky: Is the story spooky without using inappropriate language or disturbing descriptions? Does the story build anticipation and suspense?

In the Lower School

First grade students are diving into color theory! Just in time for Halloween fun, first grade had a blast making different shades of orange this week. To begin their activity, students read The Big Orange Splot, a book about making things unique. Next up, students will turn their orange backgrounds into jack-o-lanterns.

Looking ahead, the class will learn how to add kinetic elements to their art and will explore sculpture in a Halloween theme.
