SA Spirit Day at Catawba Football, Sept. 16 - Free tickets for students AND parents

SA Families, We have an exciting update! Catawba College has extended a limited number of free tickets for our upcoming SA Spirit Day at Catawba Football on Saturday, Sept. 16 to SA students and parents!

Game begins at 6 p.m. For a pre-game, on-field experience, arrive at 5 p.m. Just look for the SA tent at the stadium entrance! We ask that you please RSVP to reserve tickets for your family. Tickets will be distributed at the SA tent.

In the Lower School This Week

Third grade students reviewed their place value skills this week using place value disks as they worked to distinguish between place and value by composing and decomposing numbers.

Third/Fourth Math Lead Mrs. Stanton shares that place value provides a conceptional understanding of regrouping numbers, an important foundation to prepare the students for their upcoming dive into addition and subtraction. Place value number sense will also help with thinking about numbers in groups for third grade's study of multiplication later this year.

As part of their place value study, Mrs. Stanton read the students the book Sir Cumference and All the King's Tens, a tale filled with math story problems. When students asked why they were being read a book during math class, Mrs. Stanton explained, "In real life, we rarely encounter math in isolation! Most math we encounter out in the world will feel like it is part of a word problem."

Seeking Bus Drivers for SA Field Trips

Are you certified to drive a bus, or do you know someone who is? Salisbury Academy students and teachers have a big year of field trips ahead. We'd love to add to our team of bus drivers for paid hourly positions! Contact Shannon McCoy to learn more.

SA Enrichment Programming: Now registering for Soccer Shots!

Salisbury Academy Enrichment Programming registration for fall 2023 is now open! Programs include:

Salisbury Symphony After School Strings (SSASS) will offer twice-weekly instruction on the SA campus to beginning and intermediate violin, viola, and cello students in grades 3-8

Brick Ed Lego Robotics for grades 1-2 and 3-6 as well as the Lego Robotics Competition team for grades 3-6
