SA Sustainability Coordinator Intern Kristina Rogge shares tips for school families this Earth Week
Ms. Rogge shares:
Would you like to learn 7 unique ways your family can create an Ecological Awareness Day? Here are some tips below!
Earth Day was first started by Gaylord Nelson, a man with the passion and dream to create awareness of ecological support. The celebration of the day is now an event that is spoken about internationally. However, if Nelson can inspire many after him to have an environmental awareness tradition, so can you! It all starts with one idea and one action.
- Plan a hiking day or trip.
- Have a recycling collection.
- Switch to a plant-based diet for a day, week or month.
- Have a zero-electricity day.
- Plant a garden.
- Donate your clothes or meals to a homeless organization.
- Swap out something for a reusable.
There are plenty ways to celebrate the earth and your life every day, and not just Earth Day! Creating traditions in your family and taking part in activities that will inspire the families around you - or the families that come after you - is a great way to add value to the awareness.
Happy Earth Week, SA!

Zero Waste Recycling Pledge
SA's students and staff all signed the 2021 Zero Waste Recycling Pledge on Earth Day and by signing this have pledged to reuse and recycle wherever possible. The pledge refers specifically to school days and activities on the school campus, and SA families are invited to apply this same philosophy in the home. Join us as we work to reduce waste and recycle wherever possible!

ERB Testing for Grades 3-4
|
|
Dear Salisbury Academy Parents:
As grades 3rd-4th proceed with their testing this coming week, here are some additional details. Salisbury Academy uses the ERB (Educational Records Bureau) to provide level-appropriate assessments of student progress in meeting essential academic standards. Salisbury Academy uses the ERB because we believe it is the most respected and most rigorous standardized testing program used by leading independent and public schools across the country.
Salisbury Academy students take the ERB's CTP5-Comprehensive Testing Program. This is a reasoning/achievement test battery that is designed to measure learning. Salisbury Academy uses results from the ERB to evaluate our curriculum, to review the progress of whole classes, and to monitor individual student progress.
This test is administered over a four- or five-day period and typically takes an hour or so each day. The testing period each day is scheduled for 8:15-10 a.m. or 10:15 to 12:00 p.m. After that time, a normal school day is resumed.
Upcoming Testing Times
Monday, April 26- Friday, April 30:
Tuesday, April 27 - Friday, April 30:
Here are some tips for parents to help their children during the ERB testing week:
1 - Ensure students get a good night's sleep.
2 - Make sure students eat a healthy breakfast before school to nourish the body and brain.
3 - Keep to a schedule and routine during ERB week.
4 - Be on time to school! Students should arrive with plenty of time to get into "school mode" before taking the test.
5 - Encourage your child to put forth their effort without over-stressing the child.
6 - The ERB's are not an assessment you can study for, so don't try to study extra for the tests.
Thank you for your partnership!
Sincerely,
