As part of their study of the Renaissance, fifth-graders are learning about specific artists from the period and this week got a glimpse into what it might have been like for Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel while lying on his back! Students chose from a Renaissance theme of a landscape, portrait, Greek/Roman image, or a religious element for their paintings.

Jag Weekly Sunday, Dec. 6

Dear Parents,
As we continue to partner and learn together as a school community in an environment which presents unique health and wellness challenges, we invite you to join in a free virtual event on parenting in the age of COVID-19.
Event summary:
COVID has introduced a new normal with decreased connection to the people, places, and things that impact your child's mental health. Social distancing and online learning have created a unique set of challenges for parents. This presentation will address the trends and changes in mental health and parenting during the age of COVID. Strategies for building resilience, hope, and maintaining perspective in uncertain times will be shared.
We understand that the health and safety challenges faced during the school day don't stop when children leave campus and that the lack of social contact and normalcy outside of school presents unique challenges for parents specifically. We hope you enjoy this presentation and welcome your feedback and ideas. Click here to learn more or register
Warm Regards,

This Week's Chapel
Our school virtue for the month of December is "service," and this week's chapel highlights this important virtue and cornerstone of the SA mission through the lens of caring for our elderly and providing service for residents in nursing homes and retirement communities. SA Middle School Christmas Outreach for RVO
|
|
SA's Middle School asks you to consider joining us in providing some necessities for some very special people! Mrs. Coulter shares:
Our commitment to RVO (Rowan Vocational Opportunities) has become a Christmas tradition; these individuals are truly grateful, and this organization is so deserving of our support. RVO provides employment, education, therapy, friendship, and many other services for adults with mental disabilities. The needs of these individuals are for basic items that many of us take for granted, and now more than ever, they need our support. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to share a Christmas Party with them this year, but we are asking for your help with the following:
Travel-sized Toiletries:
- Women's and men's deodorant
- Hand sanitizer
- Hand lotion
Clothing Items
- Men's sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweatpants (medium to 3XL)
- Women's sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweatpants (medium-3XL)
- Thermal tops and bottoms for men and women (medium-3XL)
- T-shirts (medium-3XL)
- Jackets (medium-3XL)
- Toboggans and gloves
- Microwaves (we have a goal to collect 3)
These items will be collected in the homeroom classrooms and can be dropped off with Mrs. Coulter at any time. Monetary donations (cash or checks made out to Rowan Vocational Opportunities) will also be accepted. Please send all items by Friday, December 11.

December-January Lunch Menu
|
|
Habeeb Catering is serving lunches for students in grades 1-8 on M-Th. With questions contact Habeeb Catering. Thank you!
Note for Lunches:
If you plan to sign your child up for pasta days, please specify whether your child would like alfredo or meat sauce on each day by circling their choice on the menu. This will be helpful as we plan for portions. Thanks so much!
|
|
Lost and Found items will be processed over the Christmas break. Those items with names on them are being returned to students, but those items without names that have not been picked up will be donated or integrated into the uniform closet. Thank you!
