Environmental Reflections by SA's Sustainability Coordinator Intern
Despite the freezing rain and cold weather, spring is around the corner! Pictured here, the SA playground transforms into a beautiful green space as soon as the weather begins to warm.
SA Sustainability Coordinator Intern Kristina Rogge shares:
Why is it important to think of others and become more sustainable?
It is so easy to get caught up in our own world and lives. The days seem to move by so quickly, especially in a time like now, in a pandemic. When we think about being sustainable, the word itself is a meaning and consciousness for all that is around us. When studying sustainability, we not only explore innovative ways to be environmentally friendly, but another factor always stands: the needs of others.
Once we give back or develop a motivation to be sustainable for others, the action seems more valuable and easier to do. There is no point in dwelling on the struggles of today. Rather, we can concentrate on striving for a life that is greater in the future. No one wants things to get worse. Whether it is participating in volunteer projects, giving back to the community, performing a selfless act or sharing information, by doing these things you are moving one step forward in spreading the love that is needed for all to reach a sustainable future.
I encourage you to do something, write down ways you can help, or simply inspire someone else in your life to try a new sustainable act of kindness. Kindness can go a long way and the earth, as well as the universe, will grant you with good karma.
