Dear SA Families,
May has arrived and brings with it meaningful, end-of-year traditions. Classroom teachers are hard at work creating engaging experiences to culminate our year of learning, and as a school community, we are planning for a productive and celebratory final two weeks.
Just as we look forward to the sharing of the Virtual Athletic Awards on Thursday and Friday of this week and our Virtual Field Day the following week, we are honored and excited to celebrate our graduating class in these final weeks of the 2019-20 school year. Be sure to follow the social media highlights on our SA Class of 2020 in which they share their reflections - and some adorable baby pictures too!
On the chapel front, eighth grade students will lead our chapel spotlights during the month of May. Our virtue for May is “joy,” and students are sharing their reflections on the question, “What about Salisbury Academy brings you joy?” - Take a look at the video in this week's chapel section! Additionally, in honor of the Eighth Grade Chapel, we look forward to sharing a slideshow that is being prepared by parent volunteers Brad Walser and Amy Goodnight. Thank you, Brad and Amy, for your work on this!
On Friday, May 15, we'll hold a Last Day of School Drive-Thru Parade. Come anytime between 5-6 p.m. to wave to Salisbury Academy faculty and staff and celebrate the end of the year. We will also use this time to do our final all-school community service project. Families are encouraged to bring food items for Rowan Helping Ministries.
The SA Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation will take place on Saturday, May 23 and will be shared in video format. Through the ceremony we look forward to uplifting the students as a class and as individuals and honoring them at this important milestone in their academic and personal lives. We have chosen a weekend day so that our community is able to unplug from their weekday responsibilities and celebrate as families. Time of video release and additional details will be shared as we get closer to the event, but please mark this day as a special moment for our graduates, their families, and the larger school community that the Class of 2020 has made such wonderful contributions to.
I also invite you to join me for a live reading of the Prayer for Each Day this Thursday, May 7, at 9 a.m. on the Salisbury Academy Facebook page in honor of the National Day of Prayer.
Thank you, parents, for your support and partnership!
Warm Regards,
Beverly Fowler
