The World as our Classroom
Salisbury Academy Families:

Salisbury Academy students have been on the go and taking in learning experiences outside of the classroom with local field trips to Patterson and Correll Farms, fourth grade's train trip to Raleigh, and overnight field trips for third, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades to Camp Thunderbird, the Outer Banks, and Charleston, SC.

All of these wonderful learning experiences are examples of what makes the Salisbury Academy experience so special as students make important connections beyond the SA campus to extend their learning. Thank you to the teachers and parent chaperones who gave their time this week to make this all possible!

Warm Regards,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Readers' Theatre Performance in First Grade
Families and friends of SA first-graders enjoy the Fairy Tale Readers' Theatre performance.
Reading Specialist Mrs. Brown shares:

Our Salisbury Academy first grade students proudly and eagerly showed off their reading fluency skills during Friday's Fairy Tale Readers' Theatre performance.

Readers' Theatre is a strategy that combines reading practice and performing. Students "perform," or read, from scripts that are created from familiar stories. Very few props are used and movement is minimal. The goal is to enhance students' reading skills by having them practice reading with a purpose of performing. Comprehension, fluency, and confidence are built by reading the same words over and over again. Friday's Fairy Tale performance was pure enjoyment! Great job first-graders!
