Welcoming Our Families Back for 2019-2020: Reserve your spot
Dear Salisbury Academy Families,

As we celebrate the discoveries and growth taking place each day here at SA, we also look ahead to the 2019-2020 school year with great anticipation. Timely knowledge of our student enrollment allows us to most effectively plan delivery of the Salisbury Academy program for the upcoming school year.

Priority enrollment for current families begins on January 14. As part of our continuous enrollment process, your student will be automatically re-enrolled with the return of your enrollment deposit by February 14. With many of our classes at capacity and with wait pools, we encourage you to submit your re-enrollment fee by the deadline to secure your child's place for 2019-2020. Please look for details regarding our tuition structure and fees in your child's folder this week.

Also included in your child's folder packet, we are excited to share with you Salisbury Academy's Strategic Plan for the next three to five years: Firm Foundations, Evolving Excellence. The plan has been developed over the past year by our Strategic Planning Committee, Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff, and establishes our major goals in continuing on a path of innovation, excellence, and creating an exceptionally bright future for Salisbury Academy.

We are so glad you have chosen Salisbury Academy as an extension of your family and look forward to our continued partnership in providing your child with a world-class education that inspires curiosity, character, and community.
Warm Regards,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

All About Robotics in Lower School Discovery Centers

Lower School Division Director Mrs. Anderson shares:

January kicks off a unit on robotics in the SA Spark Center during lower school Discovery Centers.  Throughout the month, students will use Edison and Ozobot robots. Each week, students will program and code the robots to do various challenges. Students will also get to expand on their knowledge from the monthly Horizons trips and continue use of the Scratch programming language to create their own program for the robots.

Pictured here, second grade students familiarized themselves with Edison, added Lego designs, and learned to control (and race!) their robots through clapping commands.

Robotics is a great way to bring creative thinking, perseverance, and teamwork to life!

Building Community in MS Advisory

Middle school students enjoyed laughter and team building as advisories competed against one another in a playful "Minute to Win It" advisory challenge. The exercise gave students an opportunity to reconnect with their advisory groups after the holiday break while building community as a middle school.

Spring Enrichment Offerings: Spaces are filling quickly!
With several enrichment classes nearing capacity, now is the time to sign your child up for a class of their choice!

Bringing STEM, engineering, and robotics to students in grades 5-8, this spring's Wednesday Robotics course will teach students how to manipulate LEGO EV3 coding and build robots that use sensors to complete First LEGO League type tasks. Students will learn about color sensors, touch sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and how robots are used in real-world careers. Sign up for this and other SA Enrichment Programs at:

Note from Habeeb Catering:  January 13, 2019

Those of you who ordered lunches on the snow days, December 10 and/or 11, have credits for those lunches that were paid for. If you have not already done so, you may use those credits toward your February orders. If you have questions as to whether or not your if your child ordered those days, please email me at [email protected] .

Also, please try to get your orders in by the due date at the bottom of the form. I need them by that date in order to get my milk order in for the next week, and also, so we know the amount of supplies we will need. We will always accept late orders, it just really helps with our planning if we can get a larger percent of the orders back on time.

As always, thank you for allowing Habeeb Catering to feed your children. I so enjoy getting to know all of them!
