Bloom in Wonder: Host and auction opportunities
Dear Salisbury Academy Families,

On March 30, Salisbury Academy will hold our 10th annual Bloom gala, Bloom in Wonder. The event promises to be a magical one full of color, fantasy, and support for our school and larger community. We hope that you will mark this on your calendar and join us for a memorable evening!

As one opportunity to get involved in Bloom, event hosts play an important role in making this event possible. Several host levels are available. New this year, reserved seating for the gala will be offered to each of our participating hosts.

Additionally, our live auction features a variety of experiences, from travel adventures, to dining, to entertainment. As we build this year's exciting auction offerings, we welcome and greatly appreciate any items that you would like to donate! Examples from past auctions include beach house stays, hotel/spa/golf resort reservations, and concert tickets.

If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a host or would like to participate through a donation to our live auction, please contact Tracey Baird in SA's Development Office to learn more.

Warm Regards,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Inspiring Courage through MLK

This month's virtue of courage is a powerful concept and a prominent theme in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s teachings. At Thursday's chapel, Pastor Dee Ellison of At the Cross Ministries reminded us of Dr. King's words:

"Courage is an inner resolution to move forward despite obstacles."

Courage also inspires creativity and gives us the strength to talk openly, learn all that we can, help others, share shamelessly, be kind, and never leave a situation without understanding why it made us feel the way it did, Pastor Dee shared.

Pastor Dee closed with a final word of encouragement:  "Take the right path. Take it in courage, and people will be proud of you. But even more importantly, you will be proud of yourself."

Congratulations to our SA Spelling Bee Participants

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in this week's SA Spelling Bee and to first and second place finishers Brenna Smith (first place) and Emory Haynes (second place). Brenna and Emory will move onto the District Spelling Bee which will be held at Salisbury Academy on February 12.

Preparing Resilient Kids for a Changing Future: Thurs., Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a Community Speaking Event
Preparing Resilient Kids for a Changing Future
with Jonathan Hetterly

Thursday, January 24
6:30 p.m. at Salisbury Academy

Growing up in today's culture involves unique challenges for our kids. Instead of allowing children to be swallowed up by stress and the pressure of life, we can teach our kids resilience and grit to combat the challenges they face.
Hetterly's discussion will cover techniques including:

* How to tell the difference between stress and anxiety
* How to slow down an anxious mind and quiet racing thoughts
* How to support your child/teen without rescuing them
* How to respond to your child's mistakes or poor choices
* And many more!

Note from Habeeb Catering

Those of you who ordered lunches on the snow days, December 10 and/or 11, have credits for those lunches that were paid for. If you have not already done so, you may use those credits toward your February orders. If you have questions as to whether or not your if your child ordered those days, please email me at [email protected] .

Also, please try to get your orders in by the due date at the bottom of the form. I need them by that date in order to get my milk order in for the next week, and also, so we know the amount of supplies we will need. We will always accept late orders, it just really helps with our planning if we can get a larger percent of the orders back on time.

As always, thank you for allowing Habeeb Catering to feed your children. I so enjoy getting to know all of them!
