Snow Day Fun and Schedule Changes
Dear Salisbury Academy Families:

I don't think any of us were prepared for the beautiful winter storm we experienced last week! What a joy it was to see so many photos of our students enjoying the snow. I was lucky enough to join several SA families sledding at the local driving range on Thursday. A big thank you to Kurt Richter and Jennifer Isenberg for sharing their authentic Maine toboggan sled. What a great ride! Now, we look ahead to reschedule our missed activities from last week:

A make-up day will be scheduled for a date in February. Our administrative team will make a final decision on Monday and inform everyone about the schedule change.

Mrs. Goodman sent an email to our eighth grade families that provides the midterm schedule for Monday. Our quarter will end on Monday for student work to provide our teachers adequate time to prepare report card grades and comments.

We will still offer our Middle School Bring-A-Friend Day tomorrow but expect that some of our guests will not be able to join us due to the public school make-up day. We are also looking to reschedule our JK/K Preview Night event from last week. Thank you for continuing to share the SA story with prospective families!

The SA Spelling Bee will take place on Thursday immediately following chapel. We also moved last week's planned pep rally to this week, and it will be held on Friday. You can view all of the athletic information below in Coach Wilson's weekly update. We look forward to Spirit Week at SA this week!

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we worked to keep all of our families safe during the storm. It was a wonderful one filled with great memories to cherish for years to come.

Sincerely,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Sixth Grade Students Serve at Grandma and Me Event
Sixth grade students enjoyed a meaningful Tuesday night at the Health and Rehab Center of Trinity Oaks.  Students had a chance to serve hot chocolate, cookies, and s'mores to the residents. They also had a chance to meet the authors, Mary Ann Drummond and Beatrice Tauber Prior, of the book, Grandma and Me.

As residents and community members settled in, the students joined them to listen to a reading of the book. Grandma and Me serves as a children's guide for Alzheimer's and dementia. After the reading, the authors answered questions from audience members.

Sixth grade homeroom teacher, Elizabeth Anderson, shares, "I am really proud of the students and their sense of community service. They really enjoyed being together outside of the classroom walls and interacting with community members."
