Honing Our Strategic Plan: Exploratory survey on SA high school interest
Dear Salisbury Academy Parents,

Reviewing survey feedback and admissions interest is an important aspect of our effort to self-study and prepare for reaccreditation. Through these channels, Salisbury Academy board and staff members continue to hear requests for the consideration of a high school component to our educational program, and so we are now taking steps to further investigate this possibility.

This week we shared an SA High School Interest Survey with current parents and alumni parents of high school-aged children as an exploration of a possible expansion of our school's educational programming.  If you have not yet had a chance to do so, I kindly ask that you complete the survey linked below and share with us your valued feedback! Please submit your response by Friday, March 8.

Two survey links are provided below: One link is for parents with children in grades JK through 4th and the other link is for parents with children in grades 5th through 8th along with alumni parents with children in 9th through 12th grades. If you have more than one child attending JK through 12th grades currently, please fill out the survey that corresponds with the grade of your oldest child.

Thank you for your time and valuable feedback!
Warm Regards,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Read Across America Week Inspires Seussical Fun

Mrs. Isenhour shares:

The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. It began in 1997 when a small group of educators decided to create a day to celebrate reading. It grew into the largest celebration of reading America has ever seen. Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers.

At SA, kindergarten, junior kindergarten and lower school celebrated Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss this past week. They began with wearing silly socks for Fox in Socks and received Cat in the Hat tattoos on Tuesday. Everyone enjoyed Hop on Pop popcorn on Wednesday, and wore favorite hats on Thursday. Students in JK, K, 1st, and 2nd grade were given Dr. Seuss headband hats from the Cat in the Hat or Thing 1 and Thing 2. We wrapped up our celebration by wearing green on Friday to celebrate Green Eggs and Ham. Dr. Seuss books were read all week in the library and classrooms.

A reading contest was held between first and second grades and third and fourth grades. The classes reading the most minutes during this past week will receive items from the Scholastic Book Catalog selected by their teachers. The exciting results will be announced Thursday, March 7.

Children and adults are all entertained by Dr. Seuss's wacky plots and zany characters. Sometimes all that is needed to get a child reading is a little fun and excitement! SA students know that reading is SEUSS-tastic!!
