Junior kindergarten students performed research at the Animal Care Center of Salisbury and gathered ideas of how to open their own veterinary clinic in the JK classroom. Over the coming weeks the "housekeeping" section of the classroom will become a bustling veterinary clinic!

Spreading the Good News About SA
Dear Salisbury Academy Families:

This time of year brings with it a busy and exciting admission season as we welcome prospective students and families to our campus and look ahead to the 2020-2021 school year. Our current families are consistently our best resource for reaching new families. Thank you for sharing the good news about the amazing things happening at Salisbury Academy each day!

If you have friends interested in learning more about SA, regardless of their student's grade level, encourage them to attend an upcoming admission event, invite them to an athletic event, lunch and learn, or chapel, or ask them to contact me to schedule a personal school tour. A visit to our campus is always the best way to learn firsthand how SA's innovative approach to experiential learning nurtures curiosity, character, and community in each child.

Our next event will be the JK/K/1st Preview Night on December 5 at 6:30 p.m.  Thank you for partnering with us here at school and throughout the community!

Warm Regards,

Allison Doby, Director of Admission

Sixth Grade Students Lead a Morning in Ancient Greece
A much-anticipated academic and community tradition at Salisbury Academy, second and sixth grade students culminated their units on Ancient Greece by traveling back in time to this fascinating period.

As the key focus of the morning event, second grade students rotated through learning centers that were researched, designed, and led by sixth grade students. Centers were themed: masks and drama, Olympics, Sparta and Athens, puppets, architecture, and weaponry.

The event began with an Olympic games with javelin throwing and chariot races followed by a discussion led by sixth grade students on what the second grade students have learned over the course of their unit on Ancient Greece. Sixth grade students applauded their younger peers on their depth of knowledge from the unit and shared how the second grade's learning tied into the Ancient Greece learning rotations. To finish the day, students joined together for a Greek feast from Mykonos.

Congrats to our students on an engaging day and a strong demonstration of curiosity, learning, and leadership!

A note from Mrs. Goodman on the program:

In this ever-changing world, our faculty has a strong desire to nurture the well-being of our students and support the whole child along their educational journey. To that end, I am excited to introduce a series of wellness-based educational opportunities for our students and families. Recent parent surveys have helped to guide our planning, and I am so appreciative to those families that shared their insights with us. Our first Wellness Seminar is next week and will address a frightening epidemic that is sweeping the nation. Students in grades 6-8 will attend, and we hope that parents will also join us.

Sincerely,
Jessica Goodman
