'Tis the Season: The Jaguars represent SA at the holiday parade
Dear Salisbury Academy Families,

The Jaguars were in full force, sharing their holiday cheer with the Rowan-Salisbury community at the 'Tis the Season Spectacular parade on Wednesday! What a joy it was to join with other representatives from the community for this festive afternoon.

Many thanks to the PSA and to event chair Melissa Heilig for coordinating this annual event. Thank you also to the parents and students who represented our school so well and to the many families who donated candy for the event. We look forward to more opportunities for coming together as a school community and connecting with the larger community in the weeks ahead!
Warm Regards,

Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Thanksgiving Traditions: The annual JK/K feast

In a meaningful SA tradition, JK/K students came together as Pilgrims and Native Americans for their annual Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday.  After a blessing was shared by the students, the two classes came together to enjoy their feast. A Happy Thanksgiving indeed!

Thanksgiving Blessing

God, we thank you for this food,
For rest and home and all things good;
For wind and rain and sun above,
But most of all for those we love.

Sixth through Eighth Grade Christmas Service Project:
Rowan Vocational Opportunities
Mrs. Heather Coulter shares:

Please join us in providing a little Christmas Happiness for some very special people. Our commitment to RVO and our Christmas Party with the RVO clients have become tradition; these individuals are truly grateful, and this organization is so deserving of our support. RVO provides employment, education, therapy, friendship, and many other services for adults with mental disabilities. The needs of these individuals are for basic items that many of us take for granted.

The sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students will help to plan the event and organize collected items. Seventh and eighth graders will take the party and donations to RVO on Friday, December 14. There is a particular need for personal items.  We are asking for your help with the following:
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, deodorant, hand sanitizer, disposable women's and men's razors, shaving cream/gel, Q-tips, lip balm, lotion and hand cream, cosmetic and vanity kits, shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, bar soap, tissues, perfume/cologne)
  • Combs and brushes
  • Men's and women's sweatshirts (and hoodies) and sweatpants (medium to 5XL)
  • Thermal tops and bottoms (medium to 5XL)
  • Men's crew-neck and V-neck t-shirts (large to 5XL)
  • New or gently-used men's (or unisex) coats, jackets, and sweaters (all sizes)
  • Gloves, scarves, hats, toboggans
  • socks and underwear
  • personal blankets/throws
  • Construction paper (no crayons or coloring books, please)
  • small stocking stuffers
  • Adult-sized Santa hats (These are a big hit at our party.  We use them as "prizes," and it is always great when there are enough to go around.)
These items will be collected in the homeroom classrooms and can be dropped off with Mrs. Coulter at any time.  Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and will be used by Mrs. Coulter to purchase priority items.  Please contact her with any questions.  Please send all items by Wednesday, December 12.
