Finding Poetry in Nature: 8th grade poetry retreat
Salisbury Academy's eighth grade class found poetic inspiration in nature at this week's Poetry in Nature Retreat. The beautiful fall day added to the magic of the setting and provided an inviting escape from the hustle of daily routine!

After arriving at the Timberlake Earth Sanctuary, students worked both in groups and as individuals to read poems, be one with their environment, and practice presence and oneness with their surroundings.

The day culminated with a poetry reading in which students shared and discussed their poems as a group while reflecting on their sense of place in nature. Students returned to school feeling better in touch with their emotions and more connected to one another.
