Students in grades first through eighth immersed themselves in STEM at the first of our monthly inquiry days at Horizons! Students had the choice of seven coding and computational courses, from building bots to the mathematics of nature, to media, to coding drones. Over their next two Horizons visits students will continue to build upon their projects and understanding in these areas.

Middle School Overnight: Teamwork, adventure, and a whole lot of fun
Middle school students and faculty ventured on their fall overnight to the Girl Scouts Hornets' Nest camp in Statesville, NC this week. Students engaged in programming at the camp as well as at the Allison Woods Outdoor Learning Center.

Topics explored included birds of prey, turtle dogs, and wildlife detective work with students enjoying activities including creek stomping, a cooperation course, kayaking, canoeing, archery, and some classic camp fun: making s'mores and singing around the campfire.

The middle school overnight builds community and camaraderie among students and staff through teamwork, adventure, laughter, and fun!
