Breaking Ground This Spring -
With Your Help
Salisbury Academy's Outdoor Learning Space is on its way to becoming a reality! Until now the project has been in a silent phase of fundraising. Salisbury Academy is now actively fundraising and seeking community support so that we can get shovels in the ground this spring.
We are happy to announce that Salisbury Academy has raised $338,000 to date. This is just under $100,000 away from the amount required for us to break ground this spring on phase one of our Outdoor Learning Space.
Phase one includes a multitude of opportunities for children to explore, analyze, and create with features including learning gardens, trails, bird habitats, and a variety of play areas that inspire movement and discovery. With your help we will cross this exciting finish line and have phase one completed before students return to school in the fall!

Salisbury Academy's Outdoor Learning Space: Our Story
Global Motion Play Area of the Outdoor Learning Space |
Salisbury Academy's vision for the Outdoor Learning Space was born as part of our Project Green Space movement. Launched in the spring of 2015, Project Green Space is an initiative to enhance the school's outdoor learning environment while developing conservation-minded students and an energy-efficient and low-waste school facility.
First plans for the Outdoor Learning Space were drawn up in partnership with NC State's Natural Learning Initiative. Since the release of those plans, Salisbury Academy has worked to survey the school property and adapt the plans to align with the Academy's long-term Campus Master Plan. After a year of survey, planning, and design work with landscape architects, Salisbury Academy is in the final stages of choosing a contractor and aiming for a spring groundbreaking.
Once complete, Salisbury Academy's Outdoor Learning Space will serve as a resource for the entire community through nature-based workshops and family days. The space will be a place where students can explore, analyze, investigate, and create, all while making meaningful connections with nature.

Older Children's Play Area of the Outdoor Learning Space |
This year's Bloom gala Fund-A-Need auction item was the Older Children's Play Area of our Outdoor Learning Space. An anonymous donor offered to match up to $50,000 in donations at Bloom.
Thanks to the generosity of our Bloom attendees, the Fund-A-Need brought in $40,000 of the $50,000 match on the night of the gala!
Salisbury Academy is accepting donations towards the match with a goal of reaching the full $50,000 before the school year is complete. Contact
