NASHVILLE, TN – Two decades ago, Jake Owen made a life-changing decision. He traded a future in professional golf for a guitar and a one-way ticket to Nashville. Now, with 10 No. 1 hits to his name, Owen is embracing a new chapter as he prepares to release his first independent studio album Dreams to Dream on Friday, November 7.

In Owen’s latest release, Middle Age Crazy (out on DSPs Friday, October 10), he dips into Jerry Lee Lewis’ catalogue with the wryly hilarious “Middle Age Crazy,” which he chose to cover because “I just always loved the story of a guy who's lived the life he should have lived. And he's kind of done everything he's supposed to, but he hits this middle-aged point in his life where he wants to make a change and prove that he still can.”

“Middle Age Crazy” follows the release of “Long Time Lovin’ You,” the title track, “Dreams to Dream,” as well as a stunning cover of the Waylon Jennings tune, “Them Old Love Songs,” reimagined in the studio with Shooter.

“Sometimes you need to get outside what's comfortable, what people think you are, or think you should be, and take a risk. I'm always going to chase the passions that keep me moving forward."

Dreams to Dream, Owen’s long-awaited foray into old-school country, shines a light on raw and authentic storytelling that dives into real-life experiences like heartbreak, struggle, and defiance. “It really feels cathartic to be honest about a lot of stuff in my life — how I feel, where I see myself going, and how I see myself going there,” he says. “Where I feel most comfortable is grabbing my guitar and singing a song that fits my voice really smoothly. I feel like it's more honest.”

“I've just become a guy that wants to sing songs for people that have also matured with me in my life.”

Dreams to Dream was co-produced with Shooter Jennings and recorded at Snake Mountain (Sunset Sound Studio 3) in Los Angeles, CA. Mixed by Trina Shoemaker, mastered by Pete Lyman at Infrasonic Sound in Nashville, TN. Additional Production by Kendell Marvel. Additional Recording by Dan Ballard at Gold Pacific Studios in Nashville, TN. Assistant Engineers: Nate Haessly (Los Angeles), Dannon Johnson (Nashville).

The new album also features Jamey Johnson on “The Jukebox Knows,” and Savannah Conley on “Them Old Love Songs.” with writing credits that include Owen’s longtime friends and acclaimed songwriters Ben Chapman and Kendell Marvel.

Owen will hit the road for a select number of shows with Dirty Heads as well as his annual Flamingo Weekend benefiting The Jake Owen Foundation

About

Jake Owen’s biggest hit is undoubtedly 2011’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” a summery anthem about never growing up, never slowing down. In 2025, though, Owen isn’t feeling those lyrics so acutely. “Now, all these years later, I'm going, ‘I totally grew up. I've totally slowed down in certain ways,’” he says. “I've just become a guy that wants to sing songs for people that have also matured with me in my life.”

Owen wasn’t expecting much when he commented on one of Shooter Jennings’ Instagram posts, half-jokingly suggesting that they make a honky-tonk record, but the producer called his bluff. Two days later, Owen’s manager had Jennings on the line and, soon, Owen was on his way to L.A. and Jennings’ Sunset Sound. It was a cozy yet electric scene: Jennings and Owen cracking jokes in the sepia-toned studio, creativity crackling as they collaborated with the likes of songwriters Ben Chapman and Kendell Marvel, as well as long-time Shooter pal, guitarist/harmonic player Leroy Powell.

“All my friends who have heard my stuff have gone, ‘Dude, Jake, this is you man. This is who you've always tried to be,’” Owen says. “Sometimes you need to get outside what's comfortable, what people think you are, or think you should be, and take a risk.”

The recording artist, headlining entertainer, and actor has released nine albums, headlined tours globally, and appeared in the movie Our Friend (2019). The music business executive, philanthropist and father of two is a partner in Good Company Entertainment (a Nashville-based management and label service company) and the founder of The Jake Owen Foundation (2010).
