APPLICATIONS GO LIVE for $500 Cash Grants
MONDAY, May 11, 12noon
Applications for the Jamaica Plain Main Streets Relief Fund are live at 12noon on Monday, May 11. Residents in Jamaica Plain or employees of Jamaica Plain businesses are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to applicants who are unable to receive or ineligible for other forms of public assistance. We would like to place people of color, all genders, people without papers, people formerly incarcerated, and those facing housing instability at the front of the line for support. 

The application period opens today, Monday, May 11 at 12noon, and closes on Friday, May 15 at 12noon.

The fund will distribute cash grants of $500 each to recipients. The total number of grants and any successive rounds will depend on the success of the fundraising campaign. Recipients will be selected by representatives from each Main Streets organization. Recipients will be encouraged to take advantage of the Family Prosperity Financial Coaching program through the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation , where they will learn of other sources of financial assistance and benefits.

JP Centre/South Main Streets has partnered with Egleston Square Main Streets and Three Squares Main Street to raise funds to assist our residents and employees who are not otherwise eligible for public, financial assistance.

This tremendous response has proven what we all know - Jamaica Plain is a community that cares. If you have already donated, thank you so much. If you can donate, we are very grateful. And if you are looking for other ways to help, PLEASE help us spread the word by sharing on social media, with your friends, and community. 
REMEMBER! The CARES Act has made possible a unique charitable tax deduction for 2020. For the 90% of US taxpayers who claim the standard deduction on their taxes, the Federal government is allowing a $300 "above-the-line" charitable deduction in an effort to stimulate giving to charities in the time of COVID-19. We ask that you donate your $300 to this campaign through JP Centre/South Main Streets - a registered 501(c)3 organization.

The fund was initiated by a seed grant of $5000 from the Grenier Family of Jamaica Plain. This crowdfunding campaign will hopefully match and exceed their generous donation. We wish to thank the Grenier Family for their initiative.
