Dangers of Gambling Outlined, Members Urged to Contact Legislators

As the Alabama Legislature prepares to consider gambling legislation during the upcoming Regular Session, the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Brian Hardin sat down with Les Bernal, national director of Stop Predatory Gambling, to talk about the dangers of state-sanctioned gaming.

Federation policy states: We oppose gambling in all forms. Casino Gaming, State Lottery, Sports Betting, Electronic Gaming and Online Gambling.

"We encourage our members to contact their legislators and ask them vote 'no' on any effort to legalize gambling,” said Hardin, director of the External Affairs Department. "Reaching out and expressing opposition prior to the start of the session should be a top priority for Federation members."

The Legislature convenes Feb. 6, and gambling legislation is expected to be on the agenda in the House of Representatives as early as the first week.
