Principal's Points
Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,

Happy New Year and wishes for a much better year. While many of us are not sad to say goodbye to 2020, we should remember that there is always much to be thankful for. I am thankful for everyone connected to St. Stephen, and I pray that this new year brings you all much joy and happiness.

This weekend is Uniform/Holy Card Weekend. Please remember to have your children wear your uniform to Mass, get a holy card from the priest, show it to their teacher on Monday, and have a free dress day!

Next week, on Jan. 14, we will begin the process of re-enrollment. As discussed on the Principal's Coffee Facebook Live, we will be following our usual procedures with the addition of one acknowledgment. You will be asked to check that you understand that your child will now be registered for continuous enrollment. What this means is that in future years, re-enrollment will not be necessary. Your child will be enrolled until they graduate or until you let us know that your situation has changed. Please look for my letter next week with all the details and look for an email on Jan. 14 with instructions for online re-enrollment.

As I also discussed in my Principal's Coffee in December, one way you can meet your10 required volunteer hours is by donating to Angel's Among Us. They are in need of wine and other items. Please contact Nicki Gallagher ngallagher@sscsfl.org for more information.

Thank you to those who have already supported our Spring Spirit Raffle. Our goal is 100% participation, with each family selling $100 worth of raffles (10 tickets). We have incurred a number of unexpected costs this year in Angel's Wing and also with providing a clean, safe environment at school during this time of the pandemic. With reduced enrollment, donations and fundraising are crucial. Please be generous and reach out to all your friends and family to help support Catholic education for your children.

Peace and Blessings,

Linda Umoh

Box Tops for Education

Box Tops for Education has gone almost all paperless. See directions below on how to download the app and start earning money for our school. It takes less than a minute to download the app and set up an account. Once your account is set up and linked to our school, it is easy and fast to scan your receipts and start earning money for the school. Some products still have the box tops on the packaging that you may cut out, save, and send into school. However, most are digital for you to scan your paper receipts. There is also a way to earn money for the school using your digital or e-receipts from grocery pickup and delivery. See below for details. Thank you!!

  1. Download the Box Tops for Education app on your phone or mobile device or at BTFE.com
  2. Create an account and find your school (St. Stephens School Riverview, FL) - this step only takes about 30 seconds!
  3. Start scanning your receipts. Tip: scan receipts while waiting in carline
  4. Yes, you can earn box tops on grocery pick up and delivery! The app has a short tutorial video showing you how to submit your emailed receipts or receipts from your retailer’s mobile app.  Forward digital receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com within 14 days of purchase. Tip: Make sure you send the receipt from the same email address that you use to sign in at BTFE.com or the Box Tops mobile app. Screenshots, attachments, or PDFs of original receipts will not process correctly. If your digital receipt is only available in your participating store’s shopping app, just forward it directly from there. For more information, go to BTFE.com/digitalreceipts.
A Celebration of Family and Friends
The Valentine Gala will be held in The Grand Courtyard at The Palmetto Club on February 13. Don't miss the opportunity to dance under the stars to a fantastic live band, reconnect with friends and toast the new year. All guests purchasing seat reservations and sponsorships by Jan. 18 will automatically have their names put in the last raffle drawing which will be held at the Gala. This free ticket does not count toward your raffle ticket fundraising requirement.

Please be generous and consider the various ways you can support Angels.  Donations of wine and spirits are needed as well as items for our silent auction. The gala this year will offer some fun games and a few surprises!  You are guaranteed to have an enjoyable evening. Watch for information about class crafts, and a photo of a silent auction prize that is sure to make everyone smile! Auction items will include an Easter Bunny Hunt, a Memorable Evening with Fr. Dermot and Fr. Tim, and a Golf Outing with Fr. Tim. Please bring all donations to the school office or contact ngallagher@sscsfl.org with any questions.
