A Journey Through Music, Arts, and Creativity with SFDS

We believe that arts education is an essential part of a well-rounded education, Every student deserves the opportunity to receive a quality education, inclusive of all disabilities. The ability to express oneself through the arts can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and personal growth. Furthermore, the arts provide opportunities for students to build self-esteem and develop social skills.

Kaiser's Room

We are excited to announce that our teaching artist for Kaiser's Room, Dickie Hearts, has joined us as we enter our fourth year with the organization! This program has been a huge success and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with them.

What started as a pilot program, has become an integral part of the SFDS curriculum. Students have been able to explore their creativity and express themselves in new ways thanks to the Kaiser’s Room guidance and expertise.

Music with Chloe

In addition to our partnership with Kaiser’s Room, we are also thrilled to be entering our third year of partnership with Music with Chloe. Chloe is a Hard of Hearing music teacher who uses Universal design and Multimodal and Multilingual practices to make music accessible to all of our students.

Brooklyn Conservatory of Music

Lastly, we are also proud to announce our partnership with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music who provides Music Therapy to our preschool classes. We are in our second year and it has been an incredible experience for our young students.

This partnership was made possible through the generous donation of the Billy Joel Foundation. Music Therapy is a powerful tool for promoting social, emotional and cognitive development in young children, and we are grateful for the opportunity to offer this to our students.

We encourage you to stay updated on these partnerships and more by following us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
