Priority Projects: Little Qualicum River

The Nature Trust of BC has the opportunity to purchase 36 acres of land along the Little Qualicum River near Qualicum Beach.

This river is an important salmon river on the mid-east coast of Vancouver Island that provides spawning and rearing habitat for Chinook, Coho, Chum and Steelhead. Coastal Cutthroat Trout also use this river.

This property is currently zoned to allow for rural residential development and has merchantable timber values. If it is not purchased for conservation, there is a likelihood that it could be logged and developed.

Conversations on Conservation: Emily Griffiths-Hamilton

Emily Griffiths-Hamilton knows the importance of keeping an eye on the future. A chartered account, licensed investment advisor and conflict resolution coach, she also brings three generations of experience in long range planning to her work guiding family enterprises in transition.

And Emily brings the same forward thinking to her role as Chair of the volunteer Board of Directors of The Nature Trust of British Columbia.

She recently sat down with The Nature Trust of BC to share her unique perspective on what she believes gives The Nature Trust its superpower; why planning 50 to 100 years out is essential and why she has hope for land conservation and its role in mitigating climate change.

The Brant Wildlife Festival is Back!

Every year we celebrate the changing of the seasons, and the myriad of migrations in the oceanside communities of Parksville and Qualicum with the Brant Wildlife Festival.

The Nature Trust of British Columbia (NTBC) is looking for a passionate and creative Digital Engagement Coordinator to join the team. The Digital Engagement Coordinator will be a results-focused, creative communicator responsible for coordinating The Nature Trust of BC’s digital presence and implementing strategies and plans to raise public awareness, grow engagement and support fundraising goals.

The Nature Trust of British Columbia (NTBC) is looking for a passionate and creative Fund Development Coordinator to join the team. The Fund Development Coordinator will bring their exceptional event logistics skills to the organization’s signature events, while seeking opportunities to expand to third-party and community events.

Seasonal Conservation Field Crews

The conservation field crews offer an opportunity for young people to work on Nature Trust properties, learn valuable skills, and kick start careers in conservation. These positions begin in early May and continue for the length of the field season.
