APPRENTICESHIP & EDUCATION UPDATE

Daytime Winter Classes Begin
We were happy to recently begin our in-person, daytime winter classes. Thank you to the employers, students and instructors for working with us to offer a safe and productive environment for apprentices to continue their hands-on learning.
Craft Championships Update
One of the highlights of the year for the education team is planning our annual Craft Championships that typically take place in December. Apprentices qualify for our state competition through exemplary scores on a written test. Then they compete at our state competition – in the areas of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and sheet metal – for a chance to go to the national competition.
Both the state and national competitions were called off this year due to the safety concerns surrounding COVID, but we know how hard these students have worked to be the best of the best so we still wanted to recognize those who qualified for this year’s state competition.

COVID-19 Guidance from OSHA
On January 29, OSHA posted additional guidance on COVID-19 for employers and workers in settings (outside of healthcare and emergency response) in response to President Biden’s executive order. In this guidance, OSHA discusses distancing, use of face coverings, and implementation of COVID-19 prevention programs. We have summarized the COVID-19 prevention program guidelines in this document.
