We received this from Shandy Carroll at the Successor Agency regarding clean-up of the historic buildings:
The Successor Agency has contracted DKS to provide maintenance and monitoring of the Historic District buildings. They will now be doing periodic surveillance as well as walking through the buildings and providing a report to the Successor Agency. The first tasks on their list are:
- Remove weeds from the base of buildings
- Remove swallows nests before nesting birds come
- Clean walls from bird feces
- Clean up piles of trash and litter that have accumulated or been dumped on the historic district properties, including where someone has thrown their dog poo over the fences
- Secure the buildings against trespass by humans
- Replace broken locks
- Replace boarded windows
- Fix exhaust cap on warehouse roof that blew down in a storm
- Fix falling down roof tiles in the storage yard
Residents are kindly asked to report any damage, trespass, dumping, or other issues to the Historic Buildings to the Successor Agency email SuccessorAgency@countyofmonterey.gov.
If trespassers are seen trying to enter the building please contact the Sherrif directly at 831 755 5111 or submit a crime tip here: https://mcso.countyofmonterey.gov/contact-us
All of this should be completed in the next month, with the exception of the roof tile stabilization which may require extra staffing.
If you tried to contact them and the email address wasn't working, try again, it's been repaired. If you see work happening let us know!
