  • Track your miles on a smartwatch/phone and write them on a calendar.

  • Think about why this goal is important to you and what barriers are keeping you from accomplishing it. UNDERSTAND

  • ACCOUNTABLE Schedule check ins with a partner, friend or even on your own calendar to check your progress. If you are not on track MAKE ADJUSTMENTS "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." – Ralph Waldo Emerson.
  •
  • CELEBRATE the small wins. Give yourself credit for making small changes and continue to work towards your goals.

FUN FACT:

Simply writing your goal down on paper increases your success rate by over 40%

COMMUNITY HEALTH UPDATES:

As expected, January finds us deep in the throes of influenza (and still some noroviruses, COVID infections, and regular colds). Remember, influenza (and the others) is a respiratory virus that is spread through coughing and sneezing. You can catch those virus droplets anywhere! STAY HOME when you are sick and WASH those HANDS!

The flu vaccine does seem to be helping some, with predictions of about a 50% match. Vaccinated people who get the flu are showing milder symptoms and recovering in about a week, versus the 10-14 days for unvaccinated people. It's not too late to get a flu shot at your pharmacy, especially if you will be traveling. Taking some Vitamin C and Zinc can be helpful and are very unlikely to cause any harm.

Vitamin C 500-1000mg and Zinc 20mg

Both are proven to reduce viral replication which means if you get a cold or other virus they can help you have a milder case and or get over it faster. Great to take during the winter to boost your immune system.
